Fantasy Impact:

This massive extension for Purdy has been in the works for some time, and it's why the 49ers let many of their other key contributors leave in free agency and traded WR Deebo Samuel to the Commanders. After taking Purdy with the final pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, San Francisco had a bargain at the QB position and was able to build a talented and expensive team around him. Now, he's the expensive centerpiece. The 49ers dealt with several injuries in 2024, and Purdy ended up throwing for 3,864 yards with 20 TDs against 12 INTs and 323 yards and five more touchdowns on the ground. And while he will no longer have WR Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk is questionable for the start of the 2025 season as he recovers from knee surgery, the fourth-year QB will have RB Christian McCaffrey back to pair with weapons such as TE George Kittle (who signed his own extension this offseason), WR Jauan Jennings, and second-year WR Ricky Pearsall. Purdy is currently QB14 in FantasyPros ECR, just behind Justin Herbert, Justin Fields, and Caleb Williams and just ahead of Jordan Love, Dak Prescott, and C.J. Stroud.
