According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, veteran quarterbacks Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett are a "pretty good bet" to be the Cleveland Browns' Week 1 starter under center. (Rich Eisen Show on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said that the team's QB plans were written "in pencil" at this point, and Pelissero indicated that Cleveland wanted to give all four players a fair shot at earning the job during training camp after seeing them over the summer. Pickett started one game in 2024 with the Philadelphia Eagles but last served as a full-time starter in 2023 with the Pittsburgh Steelers, averaging 5.47 net yards per pass attempt. Flacco, meanwhile, is 40 years old but has seen more success in recent seasons, notably going 4-1 with the Browns in 2023. The training camp competition will be one to monitor, and the preseason could play a big factor.
