Marcus Mariota dealing with Achilles tendinitis

Washington Commanders backup quarterback Marcus Mariota said that he has been dealing with Achilles tendinitis, with resting during the preseason being the best remedy. (John Keim on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

The goal is for Mariota to be ready for Week 1, but as was evident by Christian McCaffrey's injury saga in 2024, Achilles tendinitis can be problematic. Mariota has reportedly returned to pads and throwing in individual sessions, but he is yet to return to 11-on-11s. If he misses time, either Josh Johnson or Sam Hartman may serve as the backup QB.
