Jaxon Smith-Njigba expected to play despite late questionable tag

Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba is expected to play against the Saints in Week 3 despite being added to the injury report as questionable late in the week due to an illness, according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter. (Adam Schefter on X)

Fantasy Impact:

Fantasy managers never want to see a player added to the injury report late in the week, but Schefter indicates Seattle was just being cautious and wants to see how JSN feels on Sunday. A decade ago, Smith-Njigba likely would have been designated as "probable," but the NFL eliminated that designation because it wasn't overly helpful and was sometimes misused by NFL teams. So, the Seahawks had to decide to do nothing or add the questionable tag. And since there was a slight chance the illness could keep the young WR out, they complied with league rules and used the questionable designation. All of this is a long-winded way of saying JSN, who has caught 17 of his 23 targets for 227 yards through the first two weeks, should be fine for Sunday as long as he doesn't wake up feeling significantly worse.
