The Patriots released Chris Harper on Tuesday, Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reports. Harper was active for the Patriots' season opener, but the team decided to go in a different direction.

The Patriots are short handed at wide receiver so another move should be on the way. Look for Chris Harper to catch on with another team. Most likely it will be on a practice squad.

Chris Harper had another strong game on Saturday night as he led the Patriots in yardage with 69 yards on 5 receptions. Harper also was the recipient of a TD pass from Jimmy Garoppol as Garoppolo scrambled and found Harper in the back of the end-zone. Through 2 Pre-Season games Harper has 12 receptions for 117 yards and 1 Touchdown. Harper will have to continue his excellent Pre-Season to find a roster spot on the Patriots.
