Dalton Schultz inks three-year deal with Texans

The Houston Texans and TE Dalton Schultz have reached terms on a three-year, $36 million deal ($23.5 million guaranteed) to keep the veteran TE paired with QB C.J. Stroud.

Fantasy Impact

With Stroud's emergence, the name of the game for Houston is to build around him, and that includes giving him weapons to work with. Schultz was productive during his years with Dallas, and after he didn't have the strongest market in 2023, his one-year deal with Houston proved to be worth it, turning into a $12 million-per-year contract. He finished 2023 as the half-PPR TE11.

Dalton Schultz expected to receive interest from Patriots

Houston Texans TE Dalton Schultz, who is set to be a free agent, is expected to clear the $10 million-per-year mark and to receive interest from the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Impact

Though ESPN's Jeremy Fowler said several teams expect Schultz to climb the eight-figure threshold, the Patriots were the sole team Fowler explicitly linked to the veteran tight end. Schultz had five touchdowns and 635 yards on 59 receptions last season, his first year away from Dallas. He made less than $7 million on a one-year deal last season and could command further interest in 2024.

Dalton Schultz hauls in five passes in Week 18.

Dalton Schultz caught 5-of-7 targets for 42 yards in the Texans’ 23-19 win over the Colts.

Fantasy Impact

Schultz capped off his first season with the Texans with another solid performance. The 27-year-old is set to hit free agency after the season and will likely have multiple suitors heading into the 2024 season.

Dalton Schultz logs two catches in Week 17

Dalton Schultz caught 2-of-4 targets for 19 yards in the Texans’ 26-3 win over the Titans.

Fantasy Impact

Schultz led the Texans’ tight ends in targets, but had a quiet day by his standards. The veteran tight end’s two receptions are his lowest total since Week 12. Schultz will look to bounce back in Week 18 against the Colts.

Dalton Schultz catches eight passes in Week 16

Dalton Schultz caught 8-of-11 targets for 61 yards in the Texans' 36-22 loss against the Browns.

Fantasy Impact

Schultz tied his season-high in targets, acting as the safety blanket for whoever was under center all afternoon for Houston. He'll see an upgrade next week if C.J. Stroud (concussion) can return.
