Colts GM Chris Ballard said Daniel Jones is “progressing really well” in his recovery from a torn Achilles.

Daniel Jones is expected to be ready for the start of the 2026 NFL season after suffering an Achilles injury late in the 2025 season.
Fantasy Impact
One of Schefter’s sources even said Jones could be ready for the start of training camp. If Jones can get back for training camp, or even part of it, that’s a big boost for him and the Colts pass catchers. Expect a lot from Alex Pierce, Tyler Warren, and Josh Downs this season.
Daniel Jones has agreed to a two-year, $50 million deal with the Colts.
Fantasy Impact
At first that the Colts and Jones were miles apart, with the Colts offer coming in significantly lower than what Jones desired. However, they’ve worked it out, giving Jones the money he’s asked for, and locked him down for the short term. It’s especially good news for Alec Pierce, who was having a career season with Jones before the QB went down due to injury.
The Colts are placing the transition tag on QB Daniel Jones.
Fantasy Impact
Jones will be given the opportunity to sign an offer sheet with another team that Indianapolis would then have the right to match. The transition tag is $37.833M, more than $6M cheaper than the QB franchise tag.
