Devante Parker re-signs with the Dolphins

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero is reporting that the Dolphins and wide receiver Devante Parker have agreed to terms on a new two-year deal to keep him in Miami.

Fantasy Impact

This is somewhat surprising, but it appears that new head coach Brian Flores thinks much more of Parker than Adam Gase did. Throughout Gase's tenure as the head coach, it just seemed that he'd throw players into the doghouse and never let them out. Parker has flashed at times during his four-year career, but health has been a major issue for him. Now that Nick Foles and Teddy Bridgewater have found their homes, it appears that the Dolphins will sign one of Tyrod Taylor or Ryan Fitzpatrick as a one- or two-year holdover until they can get their potential franchise quarterback through the draft. The fact that Parker was re-signed to a new deal, it does give a bit of hope, as it shows that Flores and new offensive coordinator Chad O'Shea have a clear role for him in the offense. The issue is that there isn't much talent around him, and without a quarterback, it's tough to get excited about anything more than WR4/5-type production.

DeVante Parker 'all but gone' from Dolphins

Adam Beasley of The Miami Herald writes DeVante Parker is "all but gone" from the Dolphins.

Fantasy Impact

Parker is due $9.4 million this year but is protected only for injury, so Miami could move on from him rather easily. A former first-round pick from 2015, Parker never developed with the Dolphins. Perhaps he needs a change of scenery.

DeVante Parker throws up bagel in Week 17

DeVante Parker caught no passes on three targets in the Dolphins' Week 17 loss to the Bills.

Fantasy Impact

Parker is back with Miami in 2019, as the Dolphins exercised the fifth-year team option on his rookie deal in April 2018. Parker has showed little more now than he did in his first three seasons, and his appeal in Miami looks to continue to be minimal. Here's to hoping he's released into the wild (free agency) for the 2020 season.

DeVante Parker held to 13 yards by Jags

DeVante Parker caught two of his three targets for 13 yards in the Dolphins' Week 16 loss to the Jaguars.

Fantasy Impact

Parker has mostly been a non-factor this year, and it doesn't seem like the breakout is going to come for yet another year. Best to leave Parker out of the starting rotation in Week 17.

DeVante Parker not in Dolphins' plans?

The Dolphins appear to be moving on from WR DeVante Parker due to a "combination of injuries, production, practice."

Fantasy Impact

Parker was held without a catch last week and has done very little this season. The perennial breakout candidate failed to deliver once again this year, but he should receive interest on the free agent market this offseason. As such, he's an intriguing buy-low and stash option in dynasty leagues given his pedigree and the upside he's flashed with the Dolphins.
