Devante Parker has broken finger, is week-to-week

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting that Dolphins wide receiver Devante Parker is dealing with a broken middle finger and is considered week-to-week.

Fantasy Impact

Rapoport goes on to say that Parker "should be a go for the season opener," but there's no guarantee of that. Adam Gase said that Parker is unable to catch a football right now, so you have to wonder if it was a dislocated finger. Whatever the case, this is definitely concerning for Parker, who has been reportedly getting owned by up-and-coming cornerback Xavien Howard during their team scrimmages. Parker's cost was very appealing prior to this news, so you'll likely be able to snag him with a pick outside the top-100 after this news. Knowing the players going in that range, Parker still has appeal as a bench stash that can turn into an every-week starter at some point.

DeVante Parker silent in preseason opener

DeVante Parker played 11 snaps in the Dolphins' preseason opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He did not record any receptions.

Fantasy Impact

It would be nice to see some more encouraging signs from Parker, but with the departure of Jarvis Landry, a lot of targets are up for grabs in Miami. Parker has a ton of upside both based on potential volume and his combination of size and athleticism. Parker is a nice upside pick at his current cheap price.

Devante Parker impressing with work ethic

Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post reports that Dolphins coaches are saying,"few if any players have spent more time in the building than Parker since last season ended. He’s been focused on managing his health as well as studying film."

Fantasy Impact

After getting hammered by Adam Gase during the 2016 preseason for not showing enough dedication, Parker has now had glowing reports over the last two offseasons. While many will roll their eyes at the news, Parker has been extremely productive when on the field. There have been 25 games in his career where he's totaled at least five targets, and in those games he's averaged 68.2 yards and 0.3 touchdowns per game, which amount to low-end WR2 numbers. Keep in mind that was with Jarvis Landry on the field, who is now in Cleveland. There's a realistic opportunity for Parker to see 120-plus targets if he stays healthy, and that would almost guarantee WR2/3 production out of him with a higher ceiling than most want to admit. At his current cost of WR39 in early ADP, Parker is one of the biggest steals at the wide receiver position.

Devante Parker retained through 2019

Miami Dolphins beat writer Barry Jackson is reporting the team has picked up WR Devante Parker's fifth-year option.

Fantasy Impact

Now that the Dolphins picked up Parker's fifth-year option, he'll be tied through the team until 2019. Parker, who is entering his fourth season in the NFL, hasn't loved up to expectations since joining the Dolphins in 2015, battling lingering small-tissue injuries in the process. However, with Ryan Tannehill returning, plus, the departure of Jarvis Landry, Parker should not only see a significant increase in targets, but he should also see an uptick in production. 2018 is Parker's make or break campaign.

Devante Parker brings in six balls in loss to Bills

Devante Parker tallied six catches for 64 yards on seven targets in the Dolphins' 22-16 loss to the Bills Sunday.

Fantasy Impact

Parker showed flashes, but largely disappointed this season. With both Jay Cutler and Jarvis Landry free agents, his value will depend on how the roster shakes out in Miami.
