Duke Johnson Jr.
RB - HOU
Week 4 Outlook
Duke Johnson (ankle) will not play Sunday’s Week 3 contest against the Steelers.
As expected, Johnson will miss his second consecutive game. He was a “long shot” to play Sunday and was ultimately ruled out. Look for David Johnson to lead the Texans backfield in touches once again. Duke will need additional time to recover and will try to return for Sunday’s Week 4 matchup against the Vikings.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting Texans RB Duke Johnson (ankle) is not expected to play in Week 3.
While Johnson drew a questionable designation for Sunday's matchup against Pittsburgh, Rapoport deems him a "longshot" to play as the national NFL reporter also suggests that he is still "not healthy enough to play." It will be another game of David Johnson handling Texans running back touches in a tough Week 3 matchup against the Steelers who have stifled enemy backs thus far in 2020.
Duke Johnson Jr. (ankle) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
Johnson was inactive for Sunday's Week 2 game against the Ravens due to an ankle injury. He was limited in practice on Wednesday. The 27-year-old will look to log a full practice during the week. Johnson will serve as the Texans RB2 behind starter David Johnson in Sunday's Week 3 contest against the Steelers.
Duke Johnson Jr. will not play in Sunday's Week 2 matchup against the Ravens.
Johnson Jr. injured his ankle last week and his status for this game appeared pretty unlikely. David Johnson will assume the lion's share of the backfield duties, although game script may force the Texans to rely on DeShaun Watson's arm if Houston falls behind early.
Texans running back Duke Johnson Jr. is unlikely to play in the team's Week 2 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens due to an ankle injury, according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.
Johnson had been listed as questionable, and head coach Bill O'Brien said that he was "trending in the right direction," so it's a bit of a surprise to hear that he is unlikely to play. With the Texans and Ravens having a 4:25 pm ET kickoff on Sunday, fantasy owners will likely have to make a lineup decision before knowing his official status. At this point, Johnson owners are better off leaving him on the bench and going in a different direction.
