Duke Johnson will miss preseason game against the Lions

Duke Johnson (hamstring) won't play in Saturday's preseason game against the Lions according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

Fantasy Impact

Johnson was traded to the Texans last week in exchange for an undisclosed 2020 draft pick. The running back has a chance to have a big role on the team but needs to get over his hamstring issue. Once he gets on the field Johnson is worth drafting in PPR formats by fantasy owners.

Duke Johnson traded to Houston Texans

The Cleveland Browns have traded running back Duke Johnson to the Houston Texans for an undisclosed 2020 draft pick, the team announced on Thursday. NFL insider Tom Pelissero reports that the draft pick is a 2020 fourth-round pick that can become a third-round pick.

Fantasy Impact

The Texans waived running back D'Onta Foreman earlier in the week and now have a new backup to starting running back Lamar Miller by adding Johnson. Johnson should immediately step in as the top pass-catching and third-down back in Houston. He is currently nursing a mild hamstring injury but is expected to be fine well before the start of the regular season.

Duke Johnson misses practice again Monday with hamstring injury

Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot is reporting that the Browns' Duke Johnson remained sidelined Monday with a hamstring injury.

Fantasy Impact

Johnson is out indefinitely after being injured following offseason trade demands. He has limited fantasy upside barring a trade with Nick Chubb set for a workhorse role.

Duke Johnson reports to camp

Browns beat writer Tony Grossi is reporting RB Duke Johnson has reported to camp.

Fantasy Impact

While Johnson has reported to camp, he still wants a trade out of Cleveland. However, while there are willing takers, Johnson may have to wait until Kareem Hunt's suspension is over, which happens to be right around the trade deadline, for his move out of town.

Duke Johnson could land in Tampa Bay

Duke Johnson signed Thursday with agent Drew Rosenhaus, hoping his new representative can facilitate a trade. The Buccaneers are rumored to be a possible destination.

Fantasy Impact

Johnson switched agents in hoping to get a deal done quicker, as he clearly wants out of Cleveland. He previously stated his desire to play elsewhere is motivated by the fact the Browns tried to originally deal him back in February. He’s entering the first of his three-year, $15.6 million dollar contract, including a $5 million dollars in bonuses the Browns have already paid for. The Buccaneers are rumored to be a top suitor, as they are one of the few teams who are in need of a pass catching specialist. This would be an ideal situation and certainly boost his fantasy value for 2019. Look for Johnson to be involved in many trade rumors in the upcoming weeks leading into the preseason.
