The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly “unsure” if WR George Pickens will attend the team's offseason program after receiving the franchise tag.
Fantasy Impact
Coming off the best season of his four-year NFL career, Pickens and the Cowboys failed to reach a long-term extension. He is currently set to play under the franchise tag, which could create issues as the season approaches.
George Pickens is being franchise tagged by the Dallas Cowboys today so the team can buy some time to potentially work out a long term deal with the star receiver.
Fantasy Impact
Pickens had an incredible year in Dallas after leaving Pittsburgh via trade. It’s likely not the bag he wanted to secure, but it’s going to be a good chunk of change and more money will likely follow as Dallas could lock him in to a long term deal later this year.
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens is expected to have the franchise tag placed on him this offseason.
Fantasy Impact
In his first season with Dallas, Pickens continued to emerge as one of the premier wide receivers in the NFL. He recorded 93 catches for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns and was the half-PPR WR6 in points per game. He will remain with the Cowboys in 2026, though Dallas wants to sign him to a long-term extension at some point.
George Pickens and the Cowboys have yet to have contract talks up to this point. The offseason is still young, but given how things went down with Micah Parsons last year, finalizing a deal should be a priority.
Fantasy Impact
Pickens, and to a lesser extent Javonte Williams, are premium free agents in 2026. The team has had preliminary talks with Williams, but won’t progress further until he hires an agent. Pickens, meanwhile, should be a top target for the team after he helped carry their offense for a few weeks when CeeDee Lamb was out with injury and continued to impress when Lamb returned.
George Pickens caught 1 of 3 targets for nine yards in Sunday's loss to the Giants.
Fantasy Impact
Despite a limited effort Sunday, Pickens gave the Cowboys a stellar season. During his first campaign in Dallas, the Pro-Bowl receiver set new career highs in receptions, yards, and touchdowns. Pickens is a lock for WR1 status next season.
