RB Jeremy Hill has been cut by the Las Vegas less than one week after signing with the team.
Devontae Booker was activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list, so it’s clear that Hill was brought in as insurance for Booker. Now that Booker is back, Hill is out of Las Vegas and will look to gain footing elsewhere in the NFL.
Free agent RB Jeremy Hill visited the Raiders Friday and plans to sign a contract with the team pending a physical.
Hill hasn’t played in the NFL since 2018 when he was with the Patriots. He found much success in his first three years in the NFL with the Bengals, going for at least 794 yards and nine TDs on the ground in each season. He hasn’t found much success since 2016, but he’s only still 27 years old and might be able to provide some depth and experience to the Raiders running game.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting New England Patriots RB Jeremy Hill (knee) tore his ACL.
As a result of Hill's ACL tear, he will miss the remainder of the season. A disaster for a player who seemed to be getting career back on track in New England. Rex Burkhead, who received 18 carries for 64 yards, adding another five yards on his lone reception in Week 1, will continue as the primary running back on the offense. However, once Sony Michel returns, the backfield could begin to form its identity. The Patriots are down to two healthy running backs, which includes Burkhead, who dealt with a preseason knee issue. New England is likely in the running back market.
Jeremy Hill carried the ball four times for 25 yards and caught one apss for six yards before leaving the Patriots' Week 1 win over the Texans.
Hill was efficient and productive on his limited touches in Week 1. He could be a sneaky value moving forward, but his outlook depends on his recovery as well as that of Sony Michel. Stay tuned for more thoughts as we get updated information, but don't start Hill yet.
Patriots RB Jeremy Hill was forced from Sunday's game against the Patriots with a knee injury and will not return.
The severity of the injury is not known at this time but if Hill misses any games more of a workload with fall on Rex Burkhead and James White especially with Sony Michel dealing with injuries. Keep an eye on updates.
