Patrick Mahomes II
QB - KC
2023 Outlook
Andy Reid told reporters that Patrick Mahomes could do just about everything in the Chiefs' playbook, and he is happy with how the star QB is moving.
Fantasy Impact
Mahomes was able to facilitate a fast-paced practice on Monday. He should be as close to 100% as he can be following the ankle injury three weeks ago.
Patrick Mahomes II said Thursday that he avoided setbacks on his ankle in the AFC Championship.
Fantasy Impact
Mahomes said he had just general soreness from a physical game. "Other than that, I'm in a good spot," Mahomes said. With two weeks off from the AFC Championship to the Super Bowl, Mahomes should be much healthier for the big game against the Eagles. The Chiefs wide receiver room is banged up, but we know what Mahomes is capable of regardless.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, QB Patrick Mahomes is expected to play in the AFC title game despite his ankle sprain, though there are concerns how his ankle will react.
Fantasy Impact
Mahomes’ ankle showed less swelling than anticipated, and he was able to look well in practice, giving the team the confidence to start him. However, he did not sprint during the week of practice, and there are concerns how his ankle could hold up after hits. Mahomes will start, but if his ankle reacts poorly at any point, QB Chad Henne will be available as the backup. Henne led a 98-yard TD drive against the Jaguars in the divisional round.
Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (ankle) was a full participant in practice on Wednesday.
Fantasy Impact
Despite suffering an ankle sprain in the divisional round, Mahomes was able to log a full practice on Wednesday. Earlier reports said they expected him to play in the conference championship, and full participation is a good sign of such. Mahomes said he was feeling good in a press conference as well.
Patrick Mahomes II is getting treatment on his ankle, but is expected to play on Sunday against the Bengals in the AFC Championship.
Fantasy Impact
Andy Reid said this high ankle sprain is not as bad as the sprained ankle that Mahomes suffered in 2019. The question is not if he will play, but rather how impacted he'll be by his injury on the field.
