Patrick Mahomes II
QB - KC
Week 2 Outlook
Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes II was 24-of-31 for 343 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception and added one rush for three yards in Week 2's loss to the Ravens.
Mahomes II was excellent Sunday night. The Cheifs may have come away with the win if not for an untimely Edwards-Helaire fumble with less than 90 seconds remaining and the Chief's driving, down by one. Mahomes II and the Chiefs face some stout defenses in the early part of the season, taking on the Chargers, Eagles, Bills, and WFT, but Mahomes II is still a no-brainer as a QB1.
Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes II completed 27-of-36 passes for 337 yards and three touchdowns and added five rushes for 18 yards and another touchdown in Week 1's comeback victory over the Browns.
The Chiefs trailed 22-10 at the half, but Mahomes put the team on his shoulders after the intermission. He threw two short touchdowns to Travis Kelce and connected on a 75-yard bomb to Tyreek Hill, which proved too much for the Browns to overcome. Mahomes showed precisely why he is the first QB off of the board in fantasy drafts.
James Palmer of NFL Network reports Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes II (toe) is ahead of schedule in his rehab and will be a full-go for training camp.
Palmer adds that Mahomes will participate in Chiefs OTAs, which begin on May 25th. He'll do "some stuff" before being fully ready for training camp. The No. 1 player in the sport, Mahomes underwent surgery on his injured toe following the Super Bowl loss to the Bucs. He's a no-brainer, high-end QB1 for fantasy purposes in 2021.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Chiefs are expected to convert Mahomes $21.7 million roster bonus into a signing bonus in the coming days.
Mahomes is following the steps of Tom Brady and having his roster bonus converted to a signing bonus. This move would help save the Chiefs $17 million against the cap. This comes a few days after the Chiefs announced their release of two of their starting offensive lineman. We will see what the Chiefs do with the freed up cap space.
Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes underwent surgery to address a nagging toe injury on Feb. 10.
General manager Brett Veach expects Mahomes to be ready for training camp, and he could even be good to go by the time mandatory minicamp comes around. This is unsurprising news, but it certainly delivers a sigh of relief for Chiefs fans. Mahomes, a perennial Pro Bowler and MVP candidate, led Kansas City to their second straight Super Bowl appearance this year. In 15 starts, he completed 390 passes for 4,740 yards, 38 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. He added 62 carries for 308 yards and two scores on the ground. The Texas Tech product averaged more fantasy points per game (minimum six games) than any other player. He currently checks in as the QB1 in the latest expert consensus rankings.
