View More NotesIn a somewhat surprising development, the reunion between Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy is going splendidly.
Rodgers and McCarthy spent 13 years together in Green Bay until McCarthy was fired after the 2018 season. Their relationship seemed to grow stale toward the end of McCarthy's tenure with the Packers.
Last year in Pittsburgh, Rodgers turned into a dink-and-dunk passer. His average depth of throw was just 6.0 yards, per Pro Football Reference. That style seemed like it would be at odds with the more aggressive passing game McCarthy generally prefers.
But Rodgers has been slinging it. He's thrown three TD passes in each of his last three games and is averaging 275.3 passing yards per game over that stretch. Entering Week 5, Rodgers' average depth of throw this season was 8.7 yards.
Rodgers has a playable Week 6 matchup against the Buccaneers, who are giving up 234.6 passing yards per game and 7.1 yards per attempt. He then gets an appealing Week 7 matchup against a slumping Saints defense, followed by a Week 8 rematch with the Browns, against whom Rodgers had 299 passing yards and three TD passes in Week 4.

Rodgers had himself a day against the struggling Colts defense, taking only a single sack and not throwing an interception. He has been on fire in the last few weeks, with three touchdowns in each of his last three games. He's a streamable option if the matchup is right, and that could be as soon as next week against the Buccaneers.
