Long, sleak wide receiver who wins as a route runner. Dynamic and great understanding of how to constantly set up routes. Great understanding of pacing and how to use his feet to flip the hips of defenders. Then exploit those deficiencies. Ran a wide variety of routes at Florida, but mostly in the short to intermediate passing game. Rarely used deep downfield. Agile at the LOS and twitchy. Good at accelerating in short bursts to set up his next move. Decent hands. Saw way too many body catches to receive a high grade in this category, but certainly adequate. Natural and good hand-eye coordination. Very few instances of contested catch situations. Struggled in the few that he was in, but is rarely in them due to being open consistently with his route running capabilities. Great release at the LOS, but lacks the overall athleticism to truly exploit the advantages he creates. But does a great job regardless. Good in deep ball tracking situations, but due to his usage in the offense, barely saw those opportunities. Was primarily used on back shoulder throws and excelled there. Average speed. Enough to succeed in the NFL, but not enough to pull away consistently from defenders. Overall, a great WR who has been taught very well by his dad, whose a WR coach in the NFL. Route tactician and will be drafted in the later rounds, but will make a NFL team very happy for their investment. Limited athlete, but makes up for it in many other areas.

Van Jefferson catches first NFL touchdown on Monday Night Football

Van Jefferson hauled in his lone target for seven yards en route to scoring his first professional touchdown during the Rams' 27-24 win over the Buccaneers on Monday Night Football.

Fantasy Impact

Jefferson ran a beautiful route on a five-yard slant and fell into the end zone for the first score of his career. The rookie receiver has been good when given the chance, though he hasn't been given many opportunities as of late. Hopefully his score impressed the coaching staff and will amount to some more playing time. Until then, he should be left on fantasy benches until he becomes a bigger part of the Rams' offense.
