FanDuel Lineup: Monday July 6

Chris Sale will face a formidable test tonight against the Blue Jays

Chris Sale will face a formidable test Monday against the Blue Jays

Tonight provides an 11-game slate with a variety of pitching and hitting options. Even if you decide to pay up for Chris Sale you should have no problem constructing a formidable offense. Vegas has most of the lines sitting around 7.0 runs, with majority of the games being played in less-than-ideal hitter’s parks.

Nearly half of the games could have weather implications, but it’s too far out to know how severe they will be. Make sure to stay updated on the weather by following Kevin Roth on Twitter @KevinRothWx. He will have a full DFS forecast.

Pitcher

Sale doesn’t draw the friendliest matchup tonight vs. the Toronto Blue Jays, but that shouldn’t scare you off him. The Blue Jays will load up on right-handed bats just like all the other teams Sale has faced. Sale has an absurd 34.7 K% with a 2.14 FIP this season vs. right-handed hitters. His price at $11,500 is reasonable for his 10+ K upside.

Other Notables

Catcher

Wieters hits from both sides of the plate and in his career has hit lefties better than righties. This season he is hitting right-handers better with a .345 wOBA, 120 wRC+, .265 ISO. Phil Hughes is having an awful season and usually struggles more with right-handed hitters, but he is struggling with hitters on both sides of the plate this season. He carries a measly 13.0 K% vs. hitters from the left side this season.

Other Notables

First Base

Davis is living up to his nickname “Crush” this season with 18 HR and 51 RBI. He has a .346 wOBA, 120 wRC+, .237 ISO on the year and has taken Hughes deep in the past. Davis makes for one of the best tournament plays on the night with at a very reasonable cost.

Other Notables

Second Base

Dozier comes into play as the top option on the board tonight at second base. His home field is known as a pitcher’s park, but he is hitting better at home this season and dominates left-handed pitchers with a .374 wOBA, 142 wRC+, .258 ISO.

Other Notables

Third Base

There are solid options tonight at the hot corner with Plouffe being one of them. He has been getting it done this season and is better vs. left-handed pitchers. Plouffe has a .336 wOBA, 115 wRC+, .172 ISO against southpaws this year. He has a small sample size vs. Wei-Yin Chen with only 11 at-bats but owns a .364 OBP with 1 HR and 4 RBI.

Other Notables

Shortstop

The matchups along with the ballpark factors aren’t too pleasing at the shortstop position tonight. Fell free to pay minimum salary for Ramirez, Ian Desmond or Starlin Castro. Each of them provide enough talent to get you positive points, and they’re as cheap as it gets. Alexei draws the best matchup at home vs. Mark Buehrle.

Other Notables

Outfield

Joc has one of the highest ceilings on the slate tonight. He is having an excellent rookie campaign with a .381 wOBA, 148 wRC+, .273 ISO. Pederson is going to face Sean O’Sullivan, arguably the worst pitcher this evening. $3,300 is more than a fair price for the young stud.

Hunter is enjoying his time back with Minnesota. The veteran is hitting in the heart of the Twins’ lineup and is putting up solid counting stats along with advanced numbers. Hunter and the Twins could do some damage vs. Wei-Yi Chen tonight with them being at home vs. the southpaw. His .329 wOBA, 110 wRC+, .181 ISO prove he isn’t having a fluke reunion season.

Anytime Ethier is hitting vs. a right-handed pitcher you need to make him an option. He hits even better at home and when the opposing pitcher is O’Sullivan you have to give him another bump. He has a .370 wOBA, 140 wRC+, .221 ISO this season vs. right-handed pitchers and comes at a reasonable price. Feel free to stack four Dodgers tonight, left or right-handed.

Other Notables

FanDuel is offering a variety of tournaments tonight with a range of low to high dollar entry fees. Browse through the lobby and reserve your entries before they fill up. Always be sure to check lineups when they come out. You can find sneaky value plays when someone moves up in the lineup especially if they’re playing in a favorable ballpark or facing a below average pitcher.
