Matt Kemp traded to the Padres

by Stan Son | Thu, Dec 11th 11:52am EST

The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres have agreed to trade OF Matt Kemp and C Tim Federowic for C Yasmani Grandal, P Joe Wieland, and P Zach Eflin. The Dodgers will pay $32 million of the remaining $102 million left on Kemp's salary. (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

Last year, Kemp hit .287/.346/.506 with 25 HRs and 89 RBIs. It was a bounce back year after two injury-riddled seasons. The days of 30/30 are over for Kemp, as he doesn't project to steal too many bases now, but he still possesses power. If healthy, a .280 20 HR 70 RBI season should be attainable. Yasmani Grandal is a switch hitting catcher who possesses power and the ability to take a walk. One reason why Andrew Friedman traded for him was because he is one of the best catchers at framing pitches, according to Fangraphs. Think Jose Molina all those years in Tampa Bay. Grandal is only 26 so his peak power years could be ahead. Last year he hit: .245/.350/.412 with 15 HRs and 49 RBIs in 128 games.
