Whitley was looking forward to a healthy season after being scratched from his final 2022 start due to a lat injury. The former top prospect struggled mightily in 2022, tossing a 7.09 ERA and an enormous 15.8% walk rate across 10 outings at the Triple-A level. Health issues and underperformance have been constant for the 25-year-old in his professional career as he looks to regain his form in the minors to begin the 2023 campaign.
