Andrew Albers earns win

Andrew Albers (4-1) spun six scoreless innings, allowing four hits and one walk, to earn the win in Seattle's 8-1 victory over the Angels on Saturday. He also struck out four.

Fantasy Impact

Albers has now thrown two straight quality starts, allowing only one earned-run in 12 innings. He has fared well since joining the Seattle rotation, recording a 2.67 ERA and 1.26 WHIP over 27 innings in five starts. Yet fantasy GM's should be aware; Albers pedestrian 6.7 K/9, 4.52 xFIP and 87 mph fastball do call for a period of negative regression. In addition, with Felix Hernandez and James Paxton both expected to return this week, his spot in the rotation at this time is uncertain.

Andrew Albers picks up win

Andrew Albers (3-1) surrendered only one run and one hit over six innings to pick up his third win of the season in Seattle's 10-2 victory over Oakland on Sunday. He struck out five and walked one.

Fantasy Impact

Albers had allowed no hits through the first five innings, but then relinquished his only hit of the game, a Matt Olson solo shot to lead off the sixth. The quality start was his best performance since being acquired by Seattle from Atlanta on August 11. The 31-year-old southpaw has been steady, pitching at least five innings in each of his four starts. He now sports a 3.43 ERA and 1.38 WHIP. But with an average fastball of 87.9 mph and an unremarkable 6.86 K/9, Albers should be viewed as no better than a backend of the rotation starter.
