Tromp was non-tendered just last week by the Braves but returns to the organization on a minors pact. The 28-year-old did appear in six games with the Braves in 2023, going 2-for-16 with an RBI while also hitting .210 with 10 homers and a healthy 16% BB% in 65 games with Triple-A Gwinnett.

Tromp will serve as the backup to Sean Murphy after Travis d’Arnaud was placed on the seven day concussion injured list. Tromp will have limited fantasy value, as Murphy should continue to see the bulk of the starts behind the plate.

It was a nice debut for Tromp, who was playing in his first game for the Braves, as he managed to knock in runs on a double in the fourth inning and a single in the eighth. He's been filling in as back-up to William Contreras as Travis d'Arnaud has been out with a leg injury, and may see some more playing time if d'Arnaud misses more time. Tromp hit .259/.301/.453 with 12 home runs and 41 RBI over 423 plate appearances with Triple-A Gwinnett this year.
