Francisco Rodriguez hoping to return to the majors

Francisco Rodriguez told Venezuelan journalist Guillermo Arcay that he is hoping to return to the major leagues.

Fantasy Impact

K-Rod hasn't pitched in the majors since June 28, 2017. Since being released by the Tigers in the summer of 2017, the 38-year-old pitched has pitched in the minors and independent teams for both the United States and in Mexico. When asked if his goal was to return to the majors, K-Rod said “That is the goal." "In spite of the fact that I’m seen as being advanced in age, that is the goal. The injuries and the ups and downs have slowed me down. But I have the conviction, the hunger and I am completely sure I can accomplish it." K-Rod currently ranks fourth on the all-time saves list with 437. Rodriguez will try to latch onto a team in the majors this off-season.

Francisco Rodriguez likely headed to Nationals

The Washington Nationals are expected to sign Francisco Rodriguez, according to Jon Heyman of FanRagSports.

Fantasy Impact

Rodriguez, who was released by the Tigers after a truly dreadful season, couldn't land in a much better spot. The Nationals have been searching for reliable relievers all season, and, although K-Rod is far from that, he does bring the "closer experience" that Dusty Baker probably craves. It's unclear what role Rodriguez will step into if he does sign with the Nationals, but he's not a bad add if you're speculating for saves.

Francisco Rodriguez lit up in relief again

Francisco Rodriguez surrendered four runs on two hits in just one inning of work in Thursday's loss to the Mariners.

Fantasy Impact

K-Rod just can't get anything going this year and has been abysmal since his demotion from the closer role... although that's what lost him the job in the first place. He's now sporting an unsightly 2-5 record, 7.82 ERA and 1.66 WHIP and doesn't even figure into any holds. He shouldn't be on your fantasy roster.

Francisco Rodriguez out as closer in Detroit

Francisco Rodriguez is out as Tigers closer, according to manager Brad Ausmus. Justin Wilson will now get the ball in save situations for the Tigers.

Fantasy Impact

Given his recent struggles, it is no surprise the Tigers decided to replace Rodriguez with Justin Wilson. After two straight disastrous outings and a run of unspectacular appearances, he now has an ERA of 8.49. Even if Wilson struggles in the closer role, the Tigers may consider someone else before turning back to Rodriguez. As a 35-year old reliever with reduced velocity, Rodriguez has a lot of work ahead of him if he wants to save any more games.

Francisco Rodriguez blows another save, closer role now in jeopardy

Francisco Rodriguez blew his fourth save of the season and his second in as many nights on Sunday, allowing a walkoff home run to Ryon Healy. His final line was 0.1 IP, two hits, three runs, and a walk.

Fantasy Impact

This was likely the last straw for K-Rod. Even if he somehow still has the job after this outing, he can safely be dropped in any format. Current Tigers 8th inning man Justin Wilson has been brilliant and is worth owning in all formats now.
