Jabari Blash went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs during the Padres 9-6 loss to the Rockies at Coors Field on Monday. Blash took Rockies' starter German Marquez deep for a two-run homer in the second inning and drive in another run with a sacrifice fly in the eighth.
Fantasy Impact
Blash has been hot for the Padres since the All-Star break, while filling in for Hunter Renfroe (neck). Blash has at least one hit in all four games including a pair of doubles and a pair of long balls while scoring four runs and driving in six. He will continue to be at least a good short term pickup while he is playing every day, especially for the next two games with the Padres playing at Coors Field.
Padres right fielder Jabari Blash went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs scored Saturday vs. the Giants.
Fantasy Impact
Blash has posted back-to-back multi-hit efforts for the first time in his career over the past two days, but he still owns a lifetime .176/.321/.343 slash line and 37.4 percent strikeout rate through 131 big league plate appearances. The slugger seems to have solid plate discipline (19 percent chase rate in 2017) and power, but he'll need to boost his contact rate to emerge on the radar outside deep NL-only formats.
Jabari Blash got the start in left field on Wednesday night in place of Melvin Upton Jr. and went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in the 7-0 loss.
Fantasy Impact
Blash will continue to grab spot starts for the Padres when an outfielder needs a day off, and can be considered as a punt option in daily fantasy. However, he should be avoided in season-long fantasy until he can secure a starting job.
Jabari Blash hit his third home run of the year on Tuesday afternoon off Rangers starter Colby Lewis. The power comes as no surprise as he leads the Padres in home runs, but unfortunately he also leads the team in strikeouts, with 15 k's in 34 at-bats.
Fantasy Impact
Blash will provide a big power bat off the bench for the Padres in 2016, bearing an injury to what already seems to be a set outfield in San Diego. He could be someone to target in daily fantasy on spot-start days where his price is close to the minimum.
