RHP Shaun Marcum gave up six earned runs over just two innings in the 17-0 demolition of the Indians by the Cubs on Wednesday. He was designated for assignment on Thursday.

Fantasy Impact: Shaun Marcum's magnificent seven scoreless innings in his previous outing seemed like a distant memory. His demotion opens the door for TJ House, Josh Tomlin and other candidates for the fifth starter job. Indians' manager Terry Francona said that they will make that announcement on Friday.

RHP Shaun Marcum allowed just two hits with no walks over seven scoreless innings as he moved to 3-1 with victory over the Mariners on Thursday. He struck out five during the 106 pitch outing.

Fantasy Impact: This was Shaun Marcum's best start of the season. It was his first scoreless outing, his first allowing as few as two hits and his first without giving up a home run. His next start is scheduled to be Tuesday vs. the Cubs.

RHP Shaun Marcum took the win on Saturday at the Mariners with five strikeouts over 5 1/2 innings. He gave up two runs on five hits with three walks.

Fantasy Impact: This outing has certainly solidified Shaun Marcum's claim over the fifth starter job. The Indians' top four starters of Corey Kluber, Carlos Carrasco, Trevor Bauer and Danny Salazar have a combined 3.57 ERA. The fifth starters have combined for a 10.42 ERA. With TJ House struggling back in Triple-A, gritty outings like this will help Shaun Marcum cling to the fifth starter role.

In Monday's defeat by the Rangers, Shaun Marcum gave up seven earned runs on just four hits in 2 2/3 innings. He walked three but struck out six.

Fantasy Impact: This was a jolt back to reality for Shaun Marcum after his heroics in the victory over the White Sox. The Indians have struggled all season with their fifth starter spot which looks to have a revolving door. With TJ House struggling in Triple-A in his first start since being optioned, expect Shaun Marcum to get another start or two.

Following his impressive 6 2/3 innings on Wednesday, Shaun Marcum looks set to keep his place in the rotation. It was his first victory for two years.

Fantasy Impact: The Indians have optioned TJ House and will see what Marcum can do in the rotation. He has a 4-0 record in Triple-A this year with a 1.36 ERA and 1.00 WHIP.

Manager Terry Francona said that RHP Shaun Marcum will start Wednesday against the White Sox and rookie LHP Carlos Rodon at U.S. Cellular Field.

Fantasy Impact: Shaun Marcum has gone 4-0 with a 1.36 ERA in five starts in Triple-A this season. It will be Marcum's first start in the big leagues since July 2013. It is likely just to be a spot start with TJ House expected to rejoin the rotation on Saturday.

RHP Shaun Marcum tossed eight scoreless innings in Friday's victory for Triple-A Columbus Clippers. He allowed just fours hits, no walks and struck out eight.

Fantasy Impact: The Indians called upon Bruce Chen for a spot start on Saturday although they could just have easily summoned Shaun Marcum. It seems likely he will get called up to start some games this season. Outings like this one suggest he could be a useful waiver wire pick up in deeper leagues when that call comes.

RHP Shaun Marcum pitched five innings of three-hit ball. He struck out four, walked three and gave up one run - a home run to JD Martinez.

Fantasy Impact: Shaun Marcum came on in relief when the Indians were 7-3 down after just four innings. Miguel Cabrera had already hit two home runs and it looked like it could get ugly. Not only did Marcum stem the flow but he gave the beleaguered Indians bullpen the night off. His fate will be determined by Tuesday's roster moves.

Fantasy Impact: This is good news for the Indians. Shaun Marcum didn't have to accept the assignment but he wanted to repay the Indians for their support during his lost 2014. He could prove to be a useful arm if injuries hit the major league rotation.

Non-roster invitee Shaun Marcum fired 3 scoreless innings against the Royals in Cactus League play on Monday. He gave up 2 singles and struck out 2.

Fantasy Impact: Having lost Gavin Floyd to elbow surgery, Shaun Marcum's performance is good news for the Indians. He is the dark horse for a rotation spot but if he can produce a few more outings like this, then he might grab the 5th starter job as Josh Tomlin, Danny Salazar & TJ House all have options.

Shaun Marcum gave up 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings in the Cactus League game against the Cubs.

Fantasy Impact: With the news that Gavin Floyd will be out of action indefinitely, the presence of non-roster invitee Shaun Marcum at spring training becomes more important. He is unlikely to make the rotation but if healthy, he could prove to be an important arm in 2015.
