Cam Newton looks to improve on his poor play against Seattle

by Kevin C. Wilson | Sat, Jan 10th 2:35pm EST

After struggling mightily in his three previous games against Seattle, Carolina quarterback Cam Newton will need to improve his play substantially if the Panthers hope to compete with the Seahawks in Saturday's divisional playoff game. Newton has averaged only 145.6 passing yards and 34.6 rushing yards in three games against the Seahawks. Even worse he has guided them to just one touchdown on 28 possessions and has a total quarterback rating of 28.7 against the defending Super Bowl champs. (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

Even though Newton has been a valuable option at quarterback for fantasy owners recently his stretch of success might come to an end this weekend against the stingy Seahawks. Given his history with Seattle and considering how effective Jonathan Stewart has been running the ball since Week 13, it's likely that Carolina decides to lean on the ground game and ask Newton to just protect the ball. That makes him a less than ideal choice for your fantasy lineups this weekend.
