Bears new regime not rushing to extend Alshon Jeffery or Matt Forte

by Michael Vincent | Tue, Jun 9th 8:03pm EDT

The Bears have still not given in regarding their approach to Martellus Bennett's holdout, which is now extending into the mandatory portions of OTAs. Two Bears who actually are on the last year of their contracts are Matt Forte and Alshon Jeffery. Reports are that the "Bears are not ready to offer extensions to other offensive playmakers in running back Matt Forte and wide receiver Alshon Jeffery. Both players are in a contract year and must prove their value to the Bears before earning a new deal." (FOX Sports)

Fantasy Impact:

This will most likely boost Jeffery and Forte's production, playing for a contract and for a chance to be a part of this team's future under this new regime. Both Forte and Jeffery have performed as RB1/WR1 over the last two seasons, finishing in the top 15 in both standard and PPR scoring. This should not change as they are fighting for their careers in Chicago. Look for Jeffery to get an extension before Forte.
