Fantasy Football Risers & Fallers: Best Ball Leagues ADP

Fantasy Football Risers & Fallers: Best Ball Leagues ADP

The NFL Draft was the final major domino for player movement in the offseason. Players could be traded, and some free agents remain. Nevertheless, it’s the ideal time to look at player movement in fantasy football best ball Underdog drafts since it will be substantial while adjusting to the incoming rookies. This piece looks at fantasy football risers and fallers from April 21 to May 4 based on best ball league ADP (average draft position).

Fantasy Football Risers & Fallers

Quarterbacks

The Chiefs traded up from the No. 32 pick to the No. 28 pick in the NFL Draft and selected a field-stretching weapon for Patrick Mahomes, and he leapfrogged the quarterback ahead of him on April 21. Kyler Murray and Caleb Williams were the other top-12 quarterbacks who moved up. Deshaun Watson and Geno Smith were unusual inclusions on the table since their average draft position (ADP) dipped. Yet, they both moved up within the positional ranking.

C.J. Stroud could have been included on the previous table since his ADP climbed into the top 50 players on May 4. However, he slipped behind Mahomes and was included on this table instead. Dak Prescott, Jordan Love and Brock Purdy were the only other fallers among the top-12 quarterbacks.

Justin Herbert is a noteworthy quarterback on the table because I disagree with the drafters. The Chargers picked a talented wideout in the second round of this year's NFL Draft. Now that Herbert has an attractive pass-catching weapon to stack with, he's a more inviting pick in Underdog drafts.

Running Backs

Saquon Barkley and Jonathan Taylor were the only RB1s who moved up. Isiah Pacheco, Rhamondre Stevenson, Najee Harris, D'Andre Swift and Zamir White were risers in the RB2 ranks. White was arguably the biggest winner at running back or wide receiver in this year's NFL Draft.

Rico Dowdle and Ezekiel Elliott were also significant winners. The Cowboys signed Elliott and bypassed picking a running back in the NFL Draft. Tyrone Tracy and Isaac Guerendo were added to Underdog's player pool. Kimani Vidal didn't net substantial draft capital, but he landed in a Chargers' backfield with Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins. Vidal could carve out a prominent role in the backfield.

Bijan Robinson and Breece Hall didn't move within the running backs, but both fell approximately an entire pick in the first round. Kyren Williams dipped a half-dozen picks due to the Rams selecting Blake Corum in the NFL Draft.

James Conner is no longer headlining a backfield bereft of talent after the Cardinals picked Trey Benson. The veteran runner might cede some touches to his explosive new teammate. Chuba Hubbard was a loser on the second night of the NFL Draft after the Panthers chose Jonathon Brooks.

The Dolphins traded a 2025 NFL Draft third-round pick to move back into the fourth round to choose Jaylen Wright. Miami's backfield will now include De'Von Achane, Raheem Mostert and Wright. It was a suboptimal landing spot for Wright's 2024 outlook, and Mostert's value might take a hit, too.

Wide Receivers

Justin Jefferson and Brandon Aiyuk were the only WR1s to rise since April 21. Meanwhile, Chris Olave was the only WR2 to climb in that time. The Chiefs traded up in the first round to pick Xavier Worthy, and the Chargers traded up in the second to select Ladd McConkey, and their ADPs have skyrocketed. The climb might not be done for either.

The Bills picked Keon Coleman with the first pick in the second round after trading back twice, and the big-bodied wide receiver was a notable riser. The 49ers and Panthers picked Ricky Pearsall and Xavier Legette in the first round, respectively, making them winners via draft capital, albeit into a crowded pass-catching corps for the former. If the 49ers were to trade Deebo Samuel, Pearsall's ADP would likely climb even higher. Ja'Lynn Polk was another draft-capital winner, landing on the Patriots early in the second round.

Luke McCaffrey is on the second page. The quarterback who switched to wide receiver was chosen much earlier than anticipated, and Underdog users are reacting to his surprising selection. The Bengals picked Jermaine Burton in the third round, and he could serve as the team's No. 3 wideout if he can beat out second-year wideouts Charlie Jones and Andrei Iosivas for snaps.

Chicago's wide receiver room is crowded. DJ Moore is the incumbent No. 1 wide receiver, but the team traded for Keenan Allen and then chose Rome Odunze with the No. 9 pick. There's only one football to go around.

Rashee Rice will presumably be suspended for his irresponsible and reckless driving. His slide probably isn't done. Adonai Mitchell was frequently mocked in the first round but fell into the back half of the second round. Troy Franklin's fall relative to where he was mocked was stark. Gamers are drafting him too early and clinging to their prior expectations. He should fall further.

Tight Ends

Trey McBride and Dalton Kincaid have moved up approximately a half-round in ADP. Jake Ferguson is the only TE1 who moved up within the position since April 21. Ben Sinnott was a huge winner on draft night. The Commanders chose him in the second round, and Zach Ertz is unimposing competition for playing time.

The Raiders selected Michael Mayer early in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, but a sophomore surge is unlikely after the team shockingly picked Brock Bowers with their first-round pick. They could cannibalize each other's opportunities.

Beyond picking Burton in the third round, the Bengals also selected tight ends Erick All and Tanner McLachlan in the fourth and sixth rounds, respectively. Mike Gesicki isn't assured of a meaningful role in Cincinnati's offense to open the year and could slide down the pecking order as his rookie teammates get acclimated to the NFL.
