In a move that surprises few, the Detroit Lions have placed injured outside linebacker DeAndre Levy (hip) on Injured Reserve, according to Tim Twentyman of detroitlions.com. (The Official Website of the Detroit Lions)

Fantasy Impact:

After signing a 4-year, $33.75 million contract extension, Levy suffered a hip injury in training camp that took him out of the first four games of the season. He made his 2015 debut against the Arizona Cardinals, where he re-aggravated the injury. Levy had been working hard to return this season, however at 1-7 and with playoff hopes all but annihilated, the Lions decided it was best to shut the 28-year-old down for the remainder of the year. In a corresponding move, Detroit signed linebacker James-Michael Johnson to the empty roster spot. The team will continue to rely on the efforts of linebacker Josh Bynes, who has been a serviceable replacement for Levy all season.
