Christian Gonzalez (shoulder) likely out for the season

Christian Gonzalez has a torn labrum and is likely to miss the remainder of the season.

Fantasy Impact

Gonzalez went down with a shoulder injury during Sunday's blowout loss to the Cowboys, and now it's officially being diagnosed as a dislocated shoulder that resulted in a torn labrum. This is not good news, and he's reportedly likely to miss the rest of the season. The Patriots have already begun to compensate for his absence, making a trade to bring back former Pro-Bowler J.C. Jackson from the Chargers.

Christian Gonzalez diagnosed with dislocated shoulder, out indefinitely

Christian Gonzalez has been diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder and will be out indefinitely.

Fantasy Impact

During the Patriots' 38-3 loss to the Cowboys, Gonzalez went down with an injury that's now being diagnosed as a dislocated shoulder. He wasn't able to return to the game, and the team now expects him to be out indefinitely as he seeks a second opinion on his injury. Losing the promising rookie is a really tough blow for New England's defense, who will also be without star edge rusher Matthew Judon (bicep) for a while.

Christian Gonzalez selected No. 17 by New England Patriots

The New England Patriots have selected CB Christian Gonzalez with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Fantasy Impact

Bill Belichick got a new toy for his defensive backfield. Gonzalez is a big corner at 6’1” and he is what the Patriots need to keep up with all of the receiver talent in the AFC East. Gonzalez is explosive as they come for his size with a 40” inch vertical and has a great ability to play press coverage. Thor Nystrom has Gonzalez as No. 14 overall and CB3 with an NFL player comp of Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie on his Top 500 big board. New England went offense in the first round last year, taking OL Cole Strange, but chose to address their defense first in this year’s draft. The Patriots already have a perennially solid fantasy draft and Gonzalez gives them even more talent on that side of the ball and a player with size and skill unlike anyone else in the defensive backfield.
