He was a preseason phenom but was riddled with fumblitis and a paltry 3.1 yards per carry. He was a bigger name and story than a fantasy contributor.

Jarryd Hayne had 27 yards on nine carries as well as 20 yards through the air while catching five-of-six targets.

There had been clamoring for Hayne from the fans after his spectacular preseason, but it is clear he isn't ready to produce against real NFL competition. That isn't taking anything away from the Australian Rugby League star who first put on football pads last Summer. He shouldn't be fantasy relevant next year but should still be in the NFL, which is a win for Hayne.

After Shaun Draughn was ruled out for Sunday's contest against Detroit, the 49ers promoted Aussie sensation Jarryd Hayne to their 53-man roster.

Fantasy Impact

Hayne Plane returns, but is unlikely to have a fantasy impact. The 49ers will likely go with a full-on committee with him, Kendall Gaskins and DuJuan Harris. Gaskins will likely have the most touches of the three. Guard Alex Boone was sent to IR in a corresponding move, and has likely played his last down as a 49er.

The 49ers resigned Australian RB to their practice squad after he went unclaimed on waivers.

Hayne has been a disappointment for those who thought he would build on his impressive preseason. The reality is he has only been playing football since earlier this year and the practice squad is a better spot for him. He has no fantasy relevance even if he makes it back to the roster.

Gaskins is a better overall RB right now, and with Reggie Bush being Reggie Bushould they needed a real RB3. You shouldn't have had Hayne on your fantasy team, anyway. The 49ers hope Hayne clears waivers so they can move him to the practice squad.
