Tony Jones Jr.
RB - Arizona Cardinals
2024 Outlook
Cardinals RB Tony Jones Jr. is officially inactive for a Week 6 matchup with the Rams.
Fantasy Impact
Jones was claimed off waivers Monday to provide some depth on the roster with the injury to James Conner. Jones is a healthy inactive and likely will not have any fantasy value, barring injuries to the running backs in front of him.
The Cardinals claimed RB Tony Jones Jr. off waivers form the Saints.
Fantasy Impact
Jones was waived by the Saints Saturday and will now head to Arizona. The Cardinals starting RB James Conner suffered a knee injury Sunday and his status for Week 6 is to be determined. Jones should be in line to serve as a backup if Conner does indeed miss time.
Tony Jones Jr. has been waived by the New Orleans Saints.
Fantasy Impact
Jones is going to hit waivers, but if he goes unclaimed within the next couple of days, he will be an unrestricted free agent. The team waived him to make room for G Tommy Kraemer, and that means they have a certain level of confidence in rookie Kendre Miller to be the primary backup for Alvin Kamara. Jones could end up back on the Saints' practice squad, but we'll have to wait a little while before we'll know for sure.
Tony Jones Jr. rushed for 31 yards on eight attempts and caught four passes for 21 yards in New Orleans' 18-17 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
Fantasy Impact
Jones got a bigger workload than he's used to with Jamaal Williams (hamstring) and Alvin Kamara (suspension) both out, and he performed okay with it. He logged over 50 total yards and was involved in the passing game, but he failed to score a touchdown to put the cherry on top. He'll get pushed back down the depth chart with Kamara's return next week, so he's not worth more than a bench stash.
According to Field Yates of ESPN, RB Tony Jones Jr. is signing with the New Orleans Saints' active roster after a big performance on Monday Night Football.
Fantasy Impact
Jones had a pair of touchdowns to help surge the Saints past the Panthers in Week 2. He saw an increased workload after RB Jamaal Williams suffered an injury. Rookie RB Kendre Miller could be in line to make his NFL debut in Week 3, but Jones has shown in the past he can be a serviceable lead back in a pinch if Miller can't play. Even if Miller plays, Jones could eat into his workload, assuming Williams misses Week 3.
