Ngakoue originally suffered what is now diagnosed as a broken ankle this past Sunday against the Lions. The veteran pass rusher finishes up his season with 22 combined tackles and four sacks across 13 games.
Yannick Ngakoue is working on his run defense in training camp and is working to prove that he is more than just a pass rusher.

Bears’ head coach Matt Eberflus stated that his has been good at stopping the run and they will make sure he continues to sharpen that part of his game. The veteran played in 15 games last season with the Colts, registering one forced fumble, 18 tackles, and 9.5 sacks.

The Bears have heavily invested in their defensive unit after a 3-14 season that culminated in the worst record in the NFL. The Bears ranked last in the NFL in points allowed and in sacks forced. According to Pro Football Reference, Ngakoue has 63 pressures over the last two seasons and his 19.5 sacks rank in the top 15 in the league over that same span. Though he hasn't graded out well with PFF in recent seasons, with sub-70 pass-rushing grades over the last two years, the Bears lack dominant, proven pass rushers, and Ngakoue can be a veteran presence in Chicago.

Ngakoue was dealing with a back injury during the week but has been cleared to play tonight. There is no word on a pitch count, so expect Ngakoue to play his normal complement of snaps. Ngakoue has been a bit of a sack-dependent option this season but has been generating enough pressures to be a DL2 option for the Week 12 matchup against Pittsburgh
