Fantasy Football Week 14 Flex Favorites

Fantasy Football Week 14 Flex Favorites

If you’re reading this, I’m guessing that means you made the fantasy playoffs or you have a severe fantasy football addiction which I respect. With it being the fantasy playoffs you need quality flex advice because the flex position could be the difference between continuing on or packing your bags and prepping for next season.

The idea of this article is to make those tricky flex debates a little easier. A flex player is a player not in the top 60 players according to FantasyPros Flex Week 14 Rankings in half-point PPR leagues as of Wednesday.

I decided to go with the no players in the top 60 to target 12-team leagues that start two running backs and three wide receivers (five players x 12 teams = 60 players). The players below will only be running backs or wide receivers since these are the two most common positions that fill the flex spot. If you don’t have any of the players below or are facing your own flex lineup decisions and need some help, then ask me on Twitter @mitchellrenz365.

Nelson Agholor (WR – PHI): @LAR
After three games without scoring a touchdown, Agholor has found the end zone in two straight games. The Eagles lost their second game of the season last week against the Seattle Seahawks, but that wasn’t from the play of Agholor. He saw 12 targets in the game bringing in seven of them for 141 yards and one touchdown.

The Eagles and Rams are tied for the second most points scored this season with 361 (30.1 points per game). With two offenses that have shown this season they can put up points, I am expecting a higher scoring game, which is why I am recommending Agholor this week in the flex.

Frank Gore (RB – IND): @BUF
Guess how many games this season, where Gore has less than 10 carries? The answer is one, only one game this season and in that game he had nine for 34 yards. Over his last five games, Gore is averaging 16 carries a game for 62 yards.

The issue is the lack of touchdowns this season for him which is hurting his fantasy value. In Week 14 he plays the Buffalo Bills, who have allowed the most fantasy points to running backs this season.

They have surrendered 15 rushing touchdowns this season, but since trading defensive tackle Marcel Dareus to the Jaguars in Week 8, they have allowed nine rushing touchdowns. Gore finds the end zone in this matchup, plus gets normal workload making him a reliable flex play.

Martavis Bryant (WR – PIT): vs. BAL
The last two weeks Bryant has had four catches for 40 yards. On the season the Ravens are the third best team in the NFL at stopping the wide receiver so why would I recommend a player who has been inconsistent like Bryant?

Two reasons — first is the last time we saw Bryant play without Juju Smith-Schuster he found the end zone and since Smith-Schuster was suspended for Week 14, I think Bryant sees an increase in targets. Second reason is the Ravens will be without one of their best defenders for the rest of the season, cornerback Jimmy Smith. Bryant will see an increase in targets and probably draw rookie cornerback Marlon Humphrey.

Orleans Darkwa (RB – NYG): vs. DAL
Listen to Darkwa’s averages over the last eight games; 14 carries for 62 yards a game. If you can find a running back who is averaging 14 carries a game, I’d say that’s solid value in your flex spot.

The Cowboys played well last Thursday when they beat the Redskins 38-14, so they have had a few extra days to prepare. The Cowboys will more than likely be without Sean Lee and when he doesn’t play the defense has struggled this season.

Seth Roberts (WR – OAK): @KC
Going with an upside play this week considering I do not expect Amari Cooper who is dealing with an injury to be playing in this match-up. This means Roberts steps into the wide receiver number two role, which has haunted the Chiefs this season.

The Chiefs have allowed the second most fantasy points to wide receivers this season, and last week the New York Jets dropped 38 points looking like the Greatest Show on Turf. Roberts has had five receptions in two of his last three games, and in this matchup, he provides some upside in the flex position.

Hopefully, these players allow you to flex your fantasy flex muscles like Nelson Agholor and Jermaine Kearse did last week in my Week 13 Flex Favorites.
