Players to Fade on DraftKings: Week 1

Players to Fade on DraftKings: Week 1

It’s that time of year where fantasy football is back and better than ever. As opening kick-off draws near it’s time to start putting together your Week 1 DraftKings lineups. Here are four players that I am fading on DraftKings this week.

T.Y. Hilton (WR – IND): $6,800
Hilton looks to be a WR1 this year in redraft, but for Week 1 I am extremely hesitant. Andrew Luck is about to play in his first regular season game since 2016. I have a feeling Luck will be rusty, and the rumors that Luck’s velocity isn’t all the way back is concerning. The concerns around Luck as well as Hilton’s dependency on the deep ball makes me want to fade Hilton this week until Luck proves he is back to what he was. At Hilton’s $6,800, I would much rather take cheaper options like Stefon Diggs at $6,300 and Chris Hogan $6,100.

Juju Smith-Schuster (WR – PIT): $5,900
I am struggling to find a way to buy into putting a team’s WR2 into a starting lineup. Juju is a very polarizing player and will definitely have his crazy games, but I don’t believe it will be this week. The top receiving option is Antonio Brown and I don’t believe that the target share will be there for Juju to make earn his price of $5,900. He has a very high upside if you are willing to take the risk, but I would look elsewhere for this week, especially in cash games.

Adrian Peterson (RB – ARI): $4,700
Don’t be tempted by the name and roll AP out in your lineups this week. Even at the low price of $4,700, we saw last year that AP is a shell of his former self. The Cardinals defense was ranked 10th in the league last year in rushing. Head coach Jay Gruden stated that Chris Thompson has looked great so far and will presumably take over all of the passing downs. That lack of receiving upside is not what you should be looking for in your DraftKings lineups. The accumulation of the past production, opponents defense, and the RBBC with him and Thompson have me fading AP this week.

Evan Engram (TE – NYG): $4,700
We are in for a treat as we are about to see what should be an improved offense in the Giants go up against what some are saying is the best defense of our generation. The Jaguars were ranked 11th against TEs last year which already is a cause for concern. The Giants also added Saquon Barkley and get a healthy OBJ as well as Sterling Shephard. There are a lot of mouths to feed and I feel as though Engram may be the odd man out as he draws coverage from Myles Jack and company. Fade Engram this week and be wary of his production for the rest of the season.
