Welcome to Week 6 of the Fantasy Baseball Injury Report. There are plenty of news and updates to share as you set your lineups for the week.
The biggest news came when Corey Kluber (SP – CLE) was hit with a line drive and fractured his arm on Thursday. The official injury is a non-displaced ulna fracture in his right arm. Cleveland placed him on the 10-day injured list, but he will not need surgery. He is expected to be re-evaluated on a weekly basis, but it appears he will miss at least three-four weeks.
Anthony Rendon (3B – WAS) was placed on the 10-day injured list April 30, retroactive to April 27 with a contusion on his left elbow. He went through batting practice this weekend and could be activated Tuesday.
The Nationals had another star hit the injured list in Juan Soto (OF – WAS). He experienced back spasms and was shut down for four-five days. He may be able to return when first eligible this Saturday.
Fernando Tatis Jr. (SS – SD) looked like he might avoid the injured list after a nasty-looking stretch that resulted in a hamstring strain, but the Padres ultimately played it safe. It is not entirely clear when Tatis will return to the lineup, but he was initially expected the return last weekend before hitting the IL, so there is a good chance he could come back when first eligible.
Here are a few more injuries we are tracking this week.

Jameson Taillon (SP -PIT)
Taillon has a flexor strain in his right arm and hit the injured list Friday. The Pirates shut him down from throwing for four weeks, and he does not currently have a timetable to return.
James Paxton (SP – NYY)
Paxton was placed on the 10-day injured list with knee inflammation. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said the lefty should miss three weeks at the most.
Carlos Rodon (SP – CHW)
Rodon hit the injured list May 2 with inflammation in his left elbow. There is a possibility that he needs Tommy John surgery. If that is the case, his season would obviously be over.
Ronald Acuna Jr. (OF – ATL)
Acuna had to leave Friday’s game early with back tightness. He was held out of the lineup Saturday but is expected to return on Monday.
Cody Bellinger (1B/OF – LAD)
Bellinger dislocated his shoulder Friday, but he popped it back into place and stayed in the game. He sat out Saturday before pinch-hitting on Sunday. Currently day-to-day, he is not expected to miss significant time.
A.J. Pollock (OF – LAD)
The Dodgers placed Pollock on the 10-day injured list after having surgery to fix a bacterial infection in his right elbow. Pollock had his right elbow surgically repaired in 2010 and then again in 2016. There is currently no timetable for his return, but he is expected to be able to play again this season.
Khris Davis (DH – OAK)
Playing the outfield under NL rules at Pittsburgh, Davis left Sunday’s game with a hip contusion suffered when leaning over the railing to make a catch. He hopes to return Tuesday.
Updating Previous Injuries
Shohei Ohtani (DH – LAA): Elbow
Ohtani hasn’t yet made his 2019 debut after having Tommy John surgery in October. He has played in simulated games and is close to a return. It’s possible that he could be activated sometime this week.
Matt Olson (1B – OAK): Hand
Recovering from surgery on his hand since March, Olson began a Triple-A rehab assignment last Wednesday and could be activated this week.
Jimmy Nelson (SP – MIL): Shoulder
Sidelined since undergoing shoulder surgery in 2017, Nelson made his return to the mound in a Triple-A rehab outing on Sunday. He allowed three runs and four walks over 3.1 innings, so he’ll need more tune-ups before returning to the Brewers.
Christian Yelich (OF – MIL): Back
After missing five games with back stiffness, Yelich pinch-hit on Saturday and hit his 15th home run of the season in the starting lineup Sunday.
Carlos Martinez (SP – STL): Shoulder
On the injured list since March with shoulder discomfort, Martinez started a Class-A rehab assignment Sunday and might return in the next couple of weeks. The Cardinals plan to use him as a reliever, but he could still be worth a stash at this point because of the vast upside.
Luis Severino (SP – NYY): Shoulder/Lat
Cashman confirmed that Severino won’t be ready before the All-Star break. He suffered a Grade 2 right lat strain while recovering from right rotator cuff inflammation last month.
