FanDuel Projected Ownership: Week 6 (2019)

It’s Week 6, and we’ve still got a few weeks left in October, but it’ll be over before you know it. Each week, I’ll be looking at who’s likely to be highly owned in FanDuel leagues per our projected ownership tool, and I’ll be throwing in my two cents along the way. Let’s take a look!

Quarterback

Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson put his off-and-on start to 2019 behind him last week against the Falcons. Watson had been taking too many sacks, but he didn’t take any last week, and it showed in his passing stats. Watson had an 84.85% completion percentage while putting up 426 yards and five touchdowns. If he can keep this up, he’s worth a start against the Chiefs. Kansas City is giving up an eleventh-most 18.8 FanDuel points per game to opposing quarterbacks, and although they aren’t as bad as the Falcons, Watson should be a smart play this week. That said, he’s matching up with Patrick Mahomes, who should also be a good start. The Texans are giving up a ninth-worst 20.4 FanDuel points per game to the position, so either quarterback should be a smart choice. While Mahomes has struggled in recent weeks, I’d look for him to get back on track against the Texans. Russell Wilson is projected to be the second most-owned quarterback this week. He squares up with the Browns, who have a mediocre defense against quarterbacks. Their 17.9 FanDuel points per game they’re giving up is good for 16th-most. Kirk Cousins and Lamar Jackson are projected to have the same ownership rate of 7.1%, and I think either could be smart plays. The Eagles have had a pretty abysmal secondary without Ronald Darby and Avonte Maddox, and while the Vikings have a run-first offense, the Eagles should be able to force the Vikings to pass more. Since Cousins proved that he can still put up points last week, I’d consider him as a cheap play at quarterback this week. Lamar Jackson, while more expensive, has an easy matchup against the Bengals. Cincinnati surrenders an eighth-most 20.4 FanDuel points per game to quarterbacks, so look for Jackson to rebound from his disappointing game last week.
