Top 7 Injuries to Know: Week 12 Waiver Wire (2023 Fantasy Football)

A lot of big-name injuries occurred in Week 11, some more severe than others.

As always, these articles are published early in the week before official practice reports, which are the most solid information as to what players will be available. We want to see at least one full practice before being confident a player will suit up.

The Top 7 Injuries To Know for the Week 12 Waiver Wire

Kenneth Walker (RB – SEA)

Kenneth Walker suffered an oblique strain in Sunday’s game, which is similar to what Christian McCaffrey had a few weeks ago. If he can go depends largely on the severity. As we saw, McCaffrey was able to play through his injury. Still, the severity of Walker’s injury remains to be seen. From the way Pete Carroll is talking about it, I would expect him to miss at least the Thanksgiving game, which makes Zach Charbonnet a great add.

Waiver consideration: Zach Charbonnet

Cooper Kupp (WR – LAR)

Cooper Kupp suffered a low ankle sprain on Sunday and is considered “day to day.” Depending on the severity of a low ankle sprain, most commonly, we see players miss between zero and two weeks. Based on the way the injury is being talked about, it sounds like it’s on the milder side and I expect Kupp to suit up this week. If he doesn’t play, Puka Nacua will benefit the most, and possibly Tyler Higbee if you’re struggling at TE.

Waiver consideration: Tyler Higbee

Puka Nacua (WR – LAR)

Speaking of Nacua, he also suffered an injury in Sunday’s game. McVay said the rookie will also be day-to-day, and he will likely be OK for next week. Although it’s hard to say until a diagnosis is given. In any case, Higbee is probably the best bet for any Rams waiver pickups.

Waiver consideration: Tyler Higbee

Mark Andrews (TE – BAL)

Mark Andrews suffered what is thought to be a fibula fracture and a high ankle sprain. The star TE now will miss the rest of the fantasy season at a minimum, with a small chance to return for a deep playoff run. Isaiah Likely is an interesting pickup for the rest of the season.

Waiver consideration: Isaiah Likely

De’Von Achane (RB – MIA)

De’Von Achane injured the same knee that he suffered an MCL sprain to that landed him on IR. It’s difficult to say if he reinjured the same ligament or just felt a tweak and came out as a precaution. Mike McDaniel did not give any solid information in his press conference. He did, however, imply that the injury wasn’t serious and he was kept out as a precaution. He also said there’s a chance he won’t play next week. If he doesn’t play, expect Salvon Ahmed to have an increased role.

Waiver consideration: Salvon Ahmed

Joe Burrow (QB – CIN)

Joe Burrow suffered a torn ligament in his right wrist in Thursday’s game. He will now miss the rest of the season, and I don’t think he has any chance to return, even for a potential Bengals Super Bowl run. This is a significant downgrade to the upside of Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins

Waiver consideration: Jake Browning in 2QB leagues

Aaron Jones (RB – GB)

Aaron Jones was carted off the field during Sunday’s game, but the reports today are that the injury is not that severe. There is no official diagnosis, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Jones missed some time. Either way, AJ Dillon has underwhelmed when Jones missed time, so I would not prioritize him in waivers this week.

Waiver consideration: Probably not AJ Dillon, but viable if desperate
