6 Fantasy Football WR/CB Matchups to Know (Week 14)

6 Fantasy Football WR/CB Matchups to Know (Week 14)

With just a few more days left of the fantasy regular season, this week is absolutely crucial for fantasy managers to nail their start/sit decisions. Because, if fantasy managers get it wrong this week, it could cost them their season and their chance to fight for a fantasy title.

Therefore, it’s time to reveal the 6 fantasy football WR/CB matchups to know for Week 14, the final week of the fantasy regular season.

WR/CB Matchups: Week 14

Advantageous Wide Receiver Matchups

Christian Watson (GB) vs. Adoree’ Jackson (NYG)

Watson has been coming into his own in recent weeks. He finished as the WR10 in Week 12 and followed that up with a WR8 overall finish in fantasy football in Week 13. This week, he could return a hat-trick of top-12 finishes as he is up against Jackson and the New York Giants.

Jackson is allowing 0.34 fantasy points per route run against him, according to FantasyPoints data. That is the joint seventh most allowed of all cornerbacks in the NFL Playing in Week 14. The Giants are also giving up 31.9 fantasy points per game to wide receivers, which is the fourth most in the NFL entering Week 14. Only the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders, and Los Angeles Chargers have allowed more fantasy points to wide receivers this season.

Watson’s good run should continue and fantasy managers should start him confidently in all fantasy formats.

Jaylen Waddle (MIA) vs. Kristian Fulton (TEN)

Waddle is coming into Week 14 as the WR27. It is fair to say he has been a disappointing player for fantasy managers so far this season. He has also only scored one 10+ fantasy point total in his last four games. However, he does have spike weeks. And this week is shaping up to be a spike week for Waddle.

Waddle is facing Fulton and the Tennessee Titans this week. Fulton is giving up 0.33 fantasy points per route run against him so far this season. This is the ninth most allowed by cornerbacks so far this season who are playing in Week 14. Also, the Titans are giving up 31.4 fantasy points per game to wide receivers. This is the sixth most in the NFL so far this season.

Waddle could be in line for a high-end WR2 finish this week should he get the volume. Fantasy managers should feel confident starting him this week.

Jakobi Meyers (LV) vs. Byron Murphy (MIN)

Meyers is coming off his bye week and comes into Week 14 as the WR25 in fantasy football. However, he is likely to return to WR2 range this week with a matchup against Murphy and the Minnesota Vikings.

Murphy is giving up 0.32 fantasy points per route run against him, which is tied for the 10th most allowed by cornerbacks playing in Week 14. The Vikings are also allowing 29.4 fantasy points to wide receivers per game, which is the 12th most allowed by NFL teams so far this season.

Meyers could be a PPR monster this week with this matchup. However, he is certainly startable in all fantasy formats this week.

Challenging Wide Receiver Matchups

Puka Nacua (LAR) vs. Marlon Humphrey (BAL)

Humphrey might have been missing for the past three weeks but he looks set to return from injury this week. Humphrey has only allowed 0.11 fantasy points per route run against him, which is the least points allowed of over 100 cornerbacks likely to feature at some point this weekend.

The Baltimore Ravens are also only allowing 22.6 fantasy points per game to wide receivers, which is the second least in the NFL. Only the New York Jets have allowed less.

Nacua will be the number-one target for Matt Stafford and the Rams. And, with Cooper Kupp looking like he is still struggling with injury, he should see sizable volume again this week. However, while Nacua will be a high-end WR2 in PPR scoring, in other formats he is expected to be much lower. It will be hard to sit Nacua this week. However, if you do play him, do not expect a huge week from him.

DeAndre Hopkins (TEN) vs. Jalen Ramsey (MIA)

Hopkins comes into this week as the WR23 in fantasy football. However, he is likely to fall out of the top 24 after this week. That is because Hopkins is playing Ramsey and the Miami Dolphins this week.

Ramsey is only allowing 0.15 fantasy points per route run against him, which is tied for the 5th lowest of all cornerbacks playing in Week 14. He has bottled up many receivers this season since returning from injury. And, if the Miami pass rush can rattle Will Levis early, it could lead to a reduced amount of passes heading Hopkins’ way.

Hopkins is likely a flex play option at best this week. Fantasy managers should start him with caution this week.

Nico Collins (HOU) vs. D.J. Reed (NYJ)

Collins unleashed last week, returning a WR4 overall finish after Tank Dell left the game with a broken leg. Dell is out for the rest of the season, meaning Collins becomes a WR1 for the rest of the season. However, this week he is unlikely to return WR1 numbers.

Collins is up against Reed and the New York Jets. Reed is only allowing 0.17 fantasy points per route run against him, which is tied for the ninth least of all cornerbacks playing in Week 14. And the New York Jets are only allowing 18 fantasy points per game to wide receivers. This is comfortably the lowest fantasy points allowed to wide receivers in the NFL of any team entering Week 14.

Collins should still be started in all formats in Week 14. But it is hard to see where he can return another top 5, or even top 12 overall finish at the position this week. Fantasy managers should start him knowing the upside will be much harder to reach this week. However, he should still be started as there will not be many receivers with the volume upside he will possess in Week 14.
