Week 7 IDP Waiver Wire Pickups (2024 Fantasy Football)

Week 7 IDP Waiver Wire Pickups (2024 Fantasy Football)

Week 6 is now in the books. There are numerous storylines to track, but perhaps the most significant is the overlooked IDP players who showed out in Week 6. There were a lot of defensive fireworks in Week 6, so there are more than a few intriguing names on the waiver wire in leagues of all sizes. Let’s take a look at some of the names that may be worth some of your free agent budget.

Week 7 IDP Waiver Wire

Linebacker

Ventrell Miller (LB – JAC): 3% rostered on Yahoo
Ventrell Miller stayed productive in Week 6, racking up eight solos, two assists, and one forced fumble. He has recorded six or more solos in three straight games and can be counted as an LB2 option until he cools down. Ventrell should be rostered in all competitive leagues, especially during the byes. Tap Miller as a top-25 option for a plus Week 7 matchup against the New England Patriots. Add Miller wherever available.

Trevin Wallace (LB – CAR): 4% rostered on Yahoo
Wallace impressed again in Week 6, racing up six solos, three assists, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. Wallace has been excellent since moving into the starting lineup for the injured Shaq Thompson and should be considered an LB2 play the rest of the way. He has recorded 16 solos over his last two games and projects as an impact producer going forward. Fire Wallace up as a top-20 option for Week 7, thanks to a plus matchup against Jayden Daniels and Washington. Add Wallace in all formats.

Krys Barnes (LB – ARI): 0% rostered on Yahoo
Krys was excellent in Week 6, racking up eight solos, one assist, and one tackle for loss. He saw an expanded role against the Packers due to the injury to Kyzir White and will continue to soak up snaps if White misses any time. Barnes is a speculative add but will be drop worthy if White returns for Week 7, so plan your FAAB budget accordingly. With that said, Barnes has LB3 upside if Kyzir is sidelined, so he is someone for deep leaguers to stash while we wait for an update on Kyzir. Add Barnes where needed.

Justin Strnad (LB – DEN): 2% rostered on Yahoo
Strnad was excellent in Week 6, racking up five solos, two assists, and one sack. Strnad has five or more solos in each of his last two games and has two sacks in his last three games. He has been filling in admirably for Alex Singleton and will continue to start for the rest of the season based on his performances. Start Strnad with confidence as an LB2/3 option for a plus Week 7 matchup against the New Orleans Saints. Add Strnad in all competitive leagues.

Divine Deablo (LB – LV): 0% rostered on Yahoo
Deablo stepped up in Week 6, racking up three solos, three assists, one sack, and two tackles for loss. Deablo was excellent in his first game back from the oblique injury and should continue to thrive beside Robert Spillane. Spillane soaks up enough tackles to keep Deablo as more of an LB3 than an LB2, but games like this serve to highlight Divine’s true upside. Add and start Deablo as an LB3 option for a plus Week 7 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.

Defensive Line

Jonathon Cooper (DE/LB – DEN): 1% rostered on Yahoo
Cooper was solid in Week 6, registering four solos, two assists, 0.5 sacks, and one forced fumble. Cooper is up to 4.5 sacks on the season, which ties him for 11th in the league. For added context, Cooper currently has more sacks than Myles Garrett, Chris Jones, and Danielle Hunter. Copper has recorded at least a half sack in four of his six games this season. Treat Cooper as a DL2/3 option for a plus Week 7 matchup against the New Orleans Saints. Add Cooper wherever possible.

Dante Fowler (DE/LB – WAS): 0% rostered on Yahoo
Fowler showed up again in Week 6, racking up four solos, two sacks, and three tackles for loss against the Baltimore Ravens. Fowler now has at least one sack in back-to-back games and should be considered a DL3 option during the byes. He has four fantastic matchups lined up for fantasy managers to exploit, starting with Carolina this week and Chicago in Week 8. Add and start Fowler as a DL3 option where needed.

Azeez Ojulari (DE/LB – NYG): 0% rostered on Yahoo
Azeez took full advantage of the extra snaps in Week 6, menacing the Bengals for two solos, two assists, two sacks, and two tackles for loss. Azeez should continue to be the main beneficiary of the absence of Kayvon Thibodeaux. Tap Ojulari as a DL3/4 option for a plus Week 7 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Add Ojulari where possible.

Brian Burns (DE/LB – NYG): 3% rostered on Yahoo
Burns stayed hot in Week 6, tallying four solos, four assists, one sack, and two tackles for loss. Burns now has a sack in three of his last four games and should comfortably be counted as a top-10 option going forward. Burns should be rostered in all competitive leagues, regardless of provider. Add Burns wherever available.

A.J. Epenesa (DE – BUF): 1% rostered on Yahoo
Epenesa finally showed up on Monday night, reeling off an impact three solos, one assist, two sacks, one tackle for loss, and one forced fumble. The sacks put Epenesa at three for the season and put him back on the radar as a DL3 option, at least during the byes. The Bills and IDP managers alike had high hopes for Epenesa following the departure of Leonard Floyd, and while he is playing more than the roughly 40 percent of the snaps he has played the last few seasons (56 percent), he has been ceding snaps to Dawuane Smoot, Von Miller, and Casey Toohill. Tap Epenesa as a DL3/4 option where needed for a plus Week 7 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.

Defensive Back

Tyler Nubin (S – NYG): 3% rostered on Yahoo
Nubin was excellent in Week 6, racking up five solos, four assists, and one tackle for loss. Nubin has forced his way into the DB2 conversation over his last three games and has now recorded five or more solos in four of his six games this season, including three straight. Tap Nubin as a top-25 option for Week 7, thanks to a plus matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jeremy Chinn (S – WAS): 1% rostered on Yahoo
Chinn was excellent in Week 6, reeling off seven solos and one assist against the Baltimore Ravens. Chinn has upped his production recently, registering seven or more solos in two of his last three games. He has started and played over 80 percent of the snaps in each of the games this season and finally seems to be regaining the form that made him a DB1 mainstay before things went haywire in Carolina. Tap Chinn as a top-25 option for a plus Week 7 matchup against the Carolina Panthers.

Brandon Jones (S – DEN): 4% rostered on Yahoo
Jones was excellent in Week 6, going off for 11 solos, one assist, and one pass defended. Jones has been inconsistent all season but has another plus matchup on tap for Week 7, which puts him in the DB3 for those dealing with injuries or bye weeks. Jones has six or more total tackles in five of his six contests this year and will jump to DB2 territory in fantasy points per game after this outing. Tap Jones as a DB3 option for a plus Week 7 matchup against the New Orleans Saints. Add and start Jones where needed.

Alohi Gilman (S – LAC): 3% rostered on Yahoo
Gilman showed up in Week 6, notching sic solos, four assists, one sack, and one pass defended. It was his first time above four solos all season but is an encouraging sign for someone many still have rostered as a DB3 option. Gilman has proven DB2 upside and should be rostered in competitive leagues now that he has shown a flash of still being the players IDP managers have been waiting for. Tap Gilman as a DB3 option for a plus Week 7 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.

Rodney McLeod (S – CLE): 1% rostered on Yahoo
McLeod was excellent in Week 6, tallying eight solos, one pass defended, and a touchdown. The special team’s touchdown is not something to chase, but the eight solos to follow up a six solo outing in Week 5 is. McLeod is a must-start DB3 option if Grant Delpit misses any more time. Make the speculative add just in case as Delpit missed practice all of last week while in concussion protocol.
