Fantasy Baseball Players to Sell High

What one MLB player are you trying to sell high right now, and why? Also, who would you try to get in return?

Shota Imanaga (SP – CHC)

“Despite a 2.22 ERA, Shota Imanaga is struggling right now. His K/9 has dropped from 9.03 to 6.67 this season, while his 4.03 xERA, 4.45 FIP, and 4.86 xFIP are all extremely troubling. These numbers suggest a reckoning is coming for that ERA and coming quickly. Not to mention his near 90% LOB% is unsustainable. A straight-up swap for a slow-starting Aaron Nola (who has a much longer track record) or a bat like Anthony Santander would be a nice return.”
Joe Pisapia (FantasyPros)

Nick Pivetta (SP – SD)

Nick Pivetta is pitching out of his mind right now in his first season with the Padres. Through five starts and 30 innings, he has 30 strikeouts to go with four wins, a 1.20 ERA, and a 0.77 WHIP. But we’ve seen this movie before. The strikeouts have always been there, but he has a career 4.66 ERA, and that ERA has settled somewhere between 4.04 and 4.53 in each of the last four seasons. He’s gone on hot streaks like this in the past, and the regression usually brings the numbers back down to Earth. I’m happy to sell high while I can, and I would be happy to take someone like Taylor Ward, Kristian Campbell, Brandon Nimmo, Steven Kwan, or Luis Arraez, depending on what I needed on offense.”
Mike Maher (FantasyPros)

George Springer (OF – TOR)

“I hate to play the injury game, but George Springer is still healthy and producing at a high rate, and I want to capitalize on this before it goes south. He has an unsustainable .444 BABIP, and both his walk rate and strikeout rate are much higher than his career average. Maybe someone in your league will believe that this will be the year he avoids the IL, but I’m not trusting an oft-injured 35-year-old at this point. If I could move him for someone like Tommy Edman plus another piece that fits in my roster, I’d have no trouble doing so.”
