Finding good starting pitchers can be a weekly struggle. I aim to solve this headache during this season by finding the best pitchers, every week, who are on most waiver wires. I will use the FantasyPros streaming pitchers tool to find league roster percentage information.

First, let’s take a look at last week’s picks:
- Quinn Priester (@SF): 4.0 Innings, 3 Strikeouts, 2 Earned Runs, 4 Hits, 4 Walks, (No Decision)
- Jose Quintana (@SF): 6.0 Innings, 3 Strikeouts, 1 Earned Run, 6 Hits, 2 Walks (Win)
- Tomoyuki Sugano (@WSH): 7.0 Innings, 1 Strikeout, 3 Earned Runs, 5 Hits, 0 Walks (No Decision)
- Landen Roupp (vs. MIL): 3.2 Innings, 2 Strikeouts, 4 Earned Runs, 6 Hits, 3 Walks (No Decision)
- Jake Irvin (@NYM): 7.1 Innings, 4 Strikeouts, 1 Earned Run, 5 Hits, 1 Walk (No Decision)
Total: 28.0 Innings, 13 Strikeouts, 11 Earned Runs, 26 Hits, 8 Walks (1-0)
There have been worse weeks, but there have definitely been better weeks. Roupp was a big disappointment, and last week’s streamers as a whole were very unflattering, with few strikeouts. Quality starts from Quintana, Sugano, and Irvin save the week as a whole.
Without further delay, below are my picks for pitchers to stream during Week 6 – Monday, April 28 to Sunday, May 4.
Fantasy Baseball Streaming Pitchers
Monday, April 28
JP Sears (SP – ATH) @TEX | 9% Rostered
JP Sears is a great streaming option against the Rangers. Sears played the Rangers on April 23, earning the win from five innings of work where he allowed two runs and struck out five. While research has been done to suggest pitchers perform slightly worse the second time they face a team in a row, I trust Sears after his last start. The 29-year-old has become a workhorse for the Athletics and is somewhat below-average most seasons, but he has been great so far in 2025 with a sparkling 3.21 ERA and 1.11 WHIP.
Alternative: Griffin Canning (SP – NYM) @WSH | 5% Rostered
Tuesday, April 29
Reese Olson (SP – DET) @HOU | 9% Rostered
Reese Olson is looking great in 2025. He has made five starts, with gems against the Padres and White Sox. His most recent start on April 23 showed Olson shut down the Padres for 7.1 innings, striking out seven and allowing just two singles and a walk. He is amid a 12.1 scoreless inning streak. Start the 25-year-old against the Astros, and consider keeping him for the long run.
Alternative: Emerson Hancock (SP – SEA) vs. LAA| 0% Rostered
Wednesday, April 30
Shane Smith (SP – CWS) vs. MIL| 9% Rostered
Yes, I know Shane Smith is on the White Sox. Yes, I know the White Sox are bad this year and only had 41 wins last season. Smith appears to be a bright spot on a dreadful White Sox roster. He has a 2.30 ERA and 0.95 WHIP across 22.1 innings of work this season, earning two quality starts from five outings. His five-inning start this week in which he struck out seven Twins was impressive. Consider starting the Rule 5 draft pick against the Brewers.
Alternative: Matthew Liberatore (SP – STL) @ CIN | 10% Rostered
Thursday, May 1
Chad Patrick (SP – MIL) @CWS | 3% Rostered
Chad Patrick is a decent pitcher going against the White Sox. What more can you ask for in a streamer? The rookie has a 2.11 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in five starts this season. While these numbers are guaranteed to become less spectacular, Patrick remains a great option to start against the White Sox. Stream the righty against the worst team in baseball.
Alternative: Logan Allen (SP – CLE) @TB | 7% Rostered
Friday, May 2
Gavin Williams (SP – CLE) @TOR | 15% Rostered
Gavin Williams is having a rocky 2025. His strikeouts have not always been there, and neither has his control. However, Williams delivered a promising recent start against the Yankees, who rank in the top five for almost all hitting stats. Williams earned the win and struck out eight, albeit allowing seven hits and two walks. The youngster flashes extreme potential and is in line for a much easier start against the Blue Jays.
Alternative: Ryan Weathers (SP – MIA) vs. ATH | 2% Rostered
Saturday, May 3
Jose Soriano (SP – LAA) vs. DET | 20% Rostered
Jose Soriano is coming off back-to-back bad starts, causing him to become available in most leagues. He started off the season hot against the White Sox, Guardians and Rays, but since then has struggled against the Rangers and Pirates. Saturday does not offer the best streaming options, but I trust the flamethrower to bounce back and get strikeouts against the Tigers, who have the fifth-most strikeouts in the league as a team.
Alternative: JP Sears (SP – ATH) @MIA | 9% Rostered
Sunday, May 4
Tomoyuki Sugano (SP – BAL) vs. KC | 6% Rostered |
The Orioles 35-year-old rookie Tomoyuki Sugano seems allergic to strikeouts. He has struck out only nine across 28 innings. Despite this, he has a 3.54 ERA and 1.14 WHIP. The Japanese baseball veteran is coming off back-to-back seven-inning quality starts. Sugano is a solid streaming option to boost ERA and WHIP ratios, but do not expect him to help with strikeouts.
Alternative: Reese Olson (SP – DET) @LAA | 9% Rostered
