Monday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings
Michael King (SD) at ATH
Michael King threw a dud on Opening Day but bounced back with a gem in his most recent turn. In his last start, he held the Guardians scoreless on two hits, one walk and 11 strikeouts through five innings. The righty was outstanding last year and pitched well on the road.
According to FanGraphs, in 153.1 innings on the road since 2023, King has had a 2.52 ERA, 3.83 xFIP, 1.12 WHIP, 8.2 BB% and 25.0 K%. He has a favorable matchup and tasty betting info tonight. Only three of the projected starters for the A’s have had a 115 wRC+ or higher against righties since 2023 or debuting, and the rest have had a 105 wRC+ or worse, with four hitters at a 93 wRC+ or lower. They also might endure the Coors Field hangover in their first game after a series in Colorado. Thus, the Padres are -145, and the game’s total is 8.0 runs.
Logan Webb (SF) vs. CIN
Logan Webb is a stud at home. In 31 starts spanning 213.1 innings at home since 2023, Webb has spun a 2.53 ERA, 2.92 xFIP, 1.00 WHIP, 3.8 BB%, 21.7 K% and 63.5 GB%.
The Reds aren’t the most challenging matchup for him in his first start at home this season. If Matt McLain remains out with a hamstring injury, Elly De La Cruz (125 wRC+ versus righties since 2023) will be the only hitter in the lineup with a wRC+ north of 110 against righties since 2023. Unsurprisingly, the Giants are -140, and the game’s total is a pitcher-friendly 7.0 runs.
Hunter Greene (CIN) at SF
The pitcher-friendly total of 7.0 runs in San Francisco is a plus for Hunter Greene, too. The Reds are slight (+120) underdogs, so the Giants aren’t projected to light up the scoreboard.
Greene can make a pitching duel in San Francisco tonight. In two starts totaling 12 innings this season, he’s had the following stats.
- 2.25 ERA
- 1.45 xERA
- 3.16 xFIP
- 2.48 SIERA
- 0.67 WHIP
- One quality start
- 4.5 BB%
- 36.4 K%
- 19.7 SwStr%
- 33.7 CSW%
- 129 stuff+
- 99 location+
- 121 pitching+
The Giants have a deep lineup of average to above-average hitters, with only two projected starters sporting a wRC+ below 100 versus righties since 2023 or debuting. However, none of their projected starters have had a wRC+ above 118 during that span. Therefore, despite its depth of above-average hitters, it’s not a supremely talented lineup. On Opening Day, Greene allowed only two earned runs on three hits, one walk and eight strikeouts at home against the Giants. He can build on that effort this time out.

Suggested Lineup Stacks
Sutter Health Park has featured explosive scoring outputs as the host for the Athletics this year. In the three-game series against the Cubs, the Athletics and the visitors combined for 21, 11 and 12 runs. Luis Severino isn’t an imposing matchup, either. Severino had substantial home and road splits in a stellar 2024 campaign, and his full-season numbers were greatly enhanced by pitching at Citi Field. In his only start at home this year, he coughed up six runs (five earned) in six innings against the Cubs. The Padres can rough him up.
- Home (Citi Field)
- Game Total/Moneyline: Unlisted/Unlisted
Tyler Phillips is expected to toe the slab for the Marlins tonight. He’s a 27-year-old righty with a 6.05 ERA, 4.28 xFIP, 4.27 SIERA and 1.37 WHIP in 10 appearances (seven starts) since reaching The Show last year. He’s a tasty matchup for a lineup with four projected starters with at least a 122 wRC+ against righties since 2023 or debuting, and two more batters with at least a 105 wRC+.
Core Studs
- Jackson Merrill is ripping the cover off the ball in his sophomore season. In 41 plate appearances this year, Merrill has three homers, seven runs, 10 RBIs, one stolen base, a .415 OBP, .297 ISO and 206 wRC+.
- Since 2023, Juan Soto has had a .419 OBP, .276 ISO and 171 wRC+ against righties.
- Manny Machado is burning up the bases with five stolen bases this year. He also has a 123 wRC+ in 41 plate appearances in 2025, with a track record of excellence in same-handed matchups.
Value Plays/Punts
- Since 2023, Luis Arraez has had a .380 OBP, .102 ISO and 126 wRC+ against right-handed pitching.
- Shortstop is an ideal spot to punt tonight. J.P. Crawford is a viable punt with a 113 wRC+ against righties since 2023.
- Gavin Sheets was a one-man wrecking crew in spring training, and his hot stick has followed him into the regular season. In 27 plate appearances for the Friars this season, Sheets has hit one homer and stolen one base with a .407 OBP, .192 ISO and 184 wRC+.
