Fantasy Baseball Closer Rankings: Risers & Fallers (2025)

Welcome back to the latest edition of the Closer Report. We had the first trade of the season involving a reliever earlier this week, as the Reds sent Alexis Diaz to the Dodgers.

We’re still a couple of months away from the trade deadline, so this was likely a one-off deal. We also have a couple of closer changes since last week.

Closer News & Notes

Robert Suarez took the lead back for saves in the MLB with 18.

Andres Munoz blew his first earned runs of the season on Friday in a blown save against the Twins. He is still right behind Suarez with 17 saves.

The Reds traded Alexis Diaz to the Dodgers. After dealing with a hamstring injury to start the season and then struggling upon his return, Diaz had been pitching for Triple-A Louisville. He is expected to report to Triple-A Oklahoma City for the Dodgers. He’ll likely be called up to the Majors at some point later in the summer.

Robert Stephenson left Friday’s game early in his second game back from injury. He just returned this week from Tommy John surgery. The Angels have already lost Ben Joyce in their bullpen.

We have two closer changes as Daniel Palencia took over the closer role in the Cubs’ bullpen and Camilo Doval took back the closer role in the Giants’ bullpen. Ryan Walker will likely settle back into a set-up role behind Doval in San Francisco.
