Today’s MLB DFS & Player Props Picks
Thursday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings
David Peterson (NYM) vs. MIL
David Peterson is a terror for visiting offenses. In 97 innings at home since last year, Peterson has had a 2.78 ERA, 3.40 xFIP, 1.29 WHIP, 7.8 BB% and 22.3 K%. The 29-year-old lefty is also having an outstanding follow-up campaign to a career year in 2024, with better ERA estimators in 2025.
Peterson’s matchup isn’t ideal, but his betting info is favorable. The Mets are -155, and the game’s total is 8.0 runs.
Clarke Schmidt (NYY) at TOR
The Blue Jays teed off on Will Warren last night, illustrating the risk of picking a pitcher against their above-average offense. Nevertheless, Clarke Schmidt is a road warrior.
In 72 innings on the road since last year, Schmidt has a 2.25 ERA, 3.90 xFIP, 1.17 WHIP, 9.6 BB% and 26.6 K%. Moreover, he has a 3.09 ERA and a sparkling 2.65 xERA in 13 starts this year. So, the Yankees are -130, and the game’s total is 8.5 runs.
Seth Lugo (KC) at SEA
Seth Lugo doesn’t have the easiest matchup tonight. The Mariners are seventh in wRC+ (113) with a 21.5 K% versus righties. However, Seattle is also 15th in wRC+ (105) with a 24.1 K% at home. So, the matchup isn’t a total nightmare. Additionally, the game’s total is a pitcher-friendly 7.5 runs, and the Royals are only slight underdogs (EVEN).
Meanwhile, Lugo is a road warrior. In 136.1 innings on the road since last year, Lugo has a 2.77 ERA, 3.57 xFIP, 1.00 WHIP, 5.5 BB% and 24.5 K%. He’s also on a roll, albeit lucky as well. In Lugo’s past five starts spanning 28.2 innings, he’s had the following stats.
- 1.26 ERA
- 3.72 xFIP
- 3.66 SIERA
- 0.94 WHIP
- Two wins
- Two quality starts
- 9.7 BB%
- 27.4 K%

Suggested Lineup Stacks
Bryce Elder has turned into a punching bag lately. In his previous four starts, Elder has had a 9.16 ERA, 3.73 xFIP, 3.92 SIERA and 1.93 WHIP. Elder yielded 2.89 HR/9 in those starts. Finally, Elder has allowed a .357 wOBA to 136 lefties and a .381 wOBA to 164 righties in 2025.
- Home (Dodger Stadium)
- Game Total/Moneyline: 9.0 Runs/LAD -290
Aaron Civale is trash on the road. In 91.1 innings on the road since last year, Civale has been crushed to the tune of a 5.81 ERA and 4.93 xFIP. He’s also permitted 1.87 HR/9 on the road since last season. Civale hasn’t had answers for lefties or righties, either. He’s allowed a .347 wOBA to 76 lefties and a .376 wOBA to 92 righties this year.
