How Should Gamers Value and Treat Breece Hall This Season?
I highlighted Breece Hall as a running back to avoid in best ball back in February, when his Underdog average draft position (ADP) was 25.9, making him the RB11. He’s cheaper now. Still, Hall’s half-point per reception (half PPR) ADP of 33 (RB14) is way too rich.
“Icefox009” asked if they should be buying or selling Breece Hall, and “tuainfinityandbeyond” was considering buying Hall and wondered what they should do. As my statement about Hall’s ADP being too rich probably suggested, I’m still not optimistic about Hall’s 2025 fantasy football outlook. I included a table for Hall’s rushing stats by season via the data suite at Fantasy Points in the linked article above, and readers can check out that table below.
Hall's efficiency is heading in the wrong direction after an electrifying, injury-shortened rookie season. Making matters worse, the drumbeat and preseason usage have strongly indicated that Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis will cut into Hall's workload.

Hall has morphed into a volume-dependent running back who isn't projected as a workhorse. I'm not the only analyst who's concerned about Hall, as evidenced by his expert consensus ranking (ECR) of 41 in half PPR leagues, which is eight spots lower than his ADP. I'm even more bearish on Hall's outlook and would rank him outside the top-60 players.
Is Josh Downs More Valuable With Daniel Jones Named the Starting Quarterback for the Colts?
The Anthony Richardson experience has run its course -- at least for now -- for the Colts. As a result, "crouse77" asked if Josh Downs was a decent pick in the 10th round or later in 10-team leagues, and "jag2016" asked how far I would move up Downs and Indy's other pass-catching weapons with Daniel Jones being named the starting quarterback for the Colts.
Danny Dimes isn't a high-caliber NFL quarterback. Nevertheless, his 64.1% completion rate for his career is markedly higher than Richardson's 50.6% completion rate. Jones has also demonstrated the ability to run an NFL offense and move the football more consistently than the wildly inaccurate Richardson.
Jones being named the starter is a plus for the pass-catching corps for the Colts. Unfortunately, Downs injured his left hamstring in a joint practice with the Packers last week. He hasn't returned to practice as of Thursday, August 21.

The soft-tissue injury is concerning for gamers drafting now. Downs' outlook will improve if he's able to return to practice next week, but gamers drafting now don't have the benefit of that information.
Tyler Warren is Indy's pass-catcher I'm the most interested in. The Colts spent significant draft capital on him, selecting him with the 14th pick of this year's NFL Draft. I'd also bump Michael Pittman Jr. ahead of Downs. Jones is a dink-and-dunk quarterback, which should allow one or more of Warren, MPJ or Downs to rack up receptions on a given week, making them intriguing in half PPR and PPR formats.
Gamers Should Adjust Their Expectations and Ranking for Brian Robinson Jr.
To borrow an expression from today's youth, Brian Robinson Jr. is down bad. The Commanders are shopping him in a trade, which could result in a favorable landing spot as part of a committee in an RB-needy backfield. However, B-Rob could also end up in a backfield where he's nothing more than depth.
Discord user "Tony Sopraño" showed me two mock-draft outcomes with Bijan Robinson as the first pick, and while the rosters they constructed were stellar, Brian Robinson Jr. in the flex for both stood out as a missed opportunity. Additionally, "Beowulf10" asked for my thoughts on their 10-team, half-PPR and no-TE (WR/TE flex) roster. They had B-Rob on their bench. Furthermore, "Laughingthund3r" asked if they should accept a trade offer of Kenneth Walker and Ricky Pearsall for Garrett Wilson and Robinson, and I told them they should take the deal immediately.
Robinson's outlook if the Commanders don't trade or cut him is dreadful. Head coach Dan Quinn indicated Chris Rodriguez will get short-yardage and goal-line opportunities.

Austin Ekeler showed he still had something in the tank last year, and he is Washington's best passing-down option. Finally, Jacory Croskey-Merritt, otherwise known as Bill, has generated tons of buzz in training camp and the preseason. Until B-Rob's team for the 2025 season is known, he's too risky to select as more than an end-of-the-bench stash in larger leagues or those with deep benches.
Should Gamers Wait Until the Final Two Rounds to Pick Their Defense and Kicker?
Thank you, "Moon Tzu." They asked how strict I am about waiting until the final two rounds to select a kicker and defense. I'm very strict about picking kickers and defenses last in leagues that require every starting roster spot to be chosen. Yet, I suggest drafting neither in drafts that are more than a week before the NFL season, and don't require gamers to fill the kicker and defense spots in fantasy drafts.
Defense is an ideal spot to stream based on betting info for any given week. Defenses aren't sticky season to season, and even the best defenses aren't appealing to start against elite quarterbacks, especially those who don't take sacks or put the ball in harm's way. So, either entirely bypassing them in a draft to have an extra running back or wide receiver on the fantasy roster in case a player ahead of them on the depth chart suffers an injury in practice before Week 1 is a shrewd move. Otherwise, I prefer to draft a defense in the last round with a favorable Week 1 matchup or fantasy-friendly matchups for the first few weeks of the season over higher-ranked defenses. Kickers are an easier pill to swallow drafting than defenses, albeit only slightly. Gamers still shouldn't choose one earlier than the final two rounds of their drafts, but picking a kicker with a track record of making kicks at a high rate is ideal. Moreover, kickers with big legs, and those who don't have to deal with Mother Nature for their home games because they play in a dome, also get a leg up -- bad pun intended -- over their peers. Still, don't be the person in your draft who picks a kicker in the ninth round of a 14-round draft. Don't do it.
