First, let’s take a look at last week’s picks:
- Slade Cecconi (vs. COL): 7.0 Innings, 3 Strikeouts, 3 Earned Runs, 6 Hits, 2 Walks (No Decision)
- Jeffrey Springs (vs. SEA): 6.0 Innings, 7 Strikeouts, 1 Earned Run, 2 Hits, 1 Walk (Win)
- Kumar Rocker (vs. SEA): 4.2 Innings, 3 Strikeouts, 3 Earned Runs, 6 Hits, 2 Walks (Loss)
- Tyler Anderson (vs. CWS): 6.0 Innings, 5 Strikeouts, 4 Earned Runs, 5 Hits, 2 Walks (Loss)
Total: 23.2 Innings, 18 Strikeouts, 11 Earned Runs, 19 Hits, 7 Walks (1-2)
It was a solid week, overall. No pitcher had a spectacular outing, but no one got blown up, either. Let’s shoot for a higher ceiling this upcoming week.
Without further delay, below are my picks for pitchers to stream during Week 19, from Monday, August 4th to Sunday, August 10th.
Fantasy Baseball Streaming Pitchers
Monday, August 4th
Adrian Houser (SP – TB) @LAA | 23% Rostered
To the surprise of many, Adrian Houser is having an amazing 2025 season. The 32-year-old has a 2.10 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP in 68.2 innings so far. Houser has an xERA of 3.97, so some regression is likely on its way. Do not let this take away from the excellent bounce-back season Houser is having.
While the rest of Houser’s season will most likely not be as good as the beginning, he looks great so far. Houser has also been traded from the White Sox to the Rays, so he should get better support. Stream Houser against the Angels, who rank in the bottom 10 of offensive stats.
Alternative: Bailey Falter (SP – PIT) vs. SF | 5% Rostered
Tuesday, August 5th
Mike Burrows (SP – PIT) vs. SF | 2% Rostered
Mike Burrows is an intriguing streamer against the Giants and a possible long-term hold. The 25-year-old has found his footing as a starter, tossing two consecutive quality starts in his most recent outings.
Burrows has an impressive 9.3 K/9 ratio, a 3.88 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP in 58 innings this season. Burrows allowed only three hits and one run in six innings against the Giants on July 30th. Why not stream him for his rematch this week?
Alternative: Ryne Nelson (SP – ARI) vs. SD | 27% Rostered
Wednesday, August 6th
Michael Wacha (SP – KC) @BOS | 21% Rostered
Michael Wacha is another pitcher on a hot streak. The veteran is in line to face the Red Sox next week, a challenging team with a top-five OPS of .756. It is understandable if you have reservations because of Wacha’s opponent and want to choose a different streamer.
Before choosing someone else, though, keep in mind that Wacha has allowed only four runs across his last four starts (24.1 innings). The 34-year-old went eight innings for the win in his most recent start against the 65-47 Blue Jays, proving he can succeed against good teams. Consider the righty against the Red Sox.
Alternative: Dustin May (SP – BOS) vs. KC | 17% Rostered
Thursday, August 7th
J.T. Ginn (SP – ATH) @WSH | 5% Rostered
J.T. Ginn is an interesting streaming option against the Nationals. The righty emerged as a decent starter for the Athletics, allowing one run across two starts in late July. However, Ginn had an ugly start on August 2nd against the Diamondbacks, allowing four runs in 4.1 innings.
It seems likely Ginn will recover when pitching against the Nationals, who are in the bottom-third of MLB hitting stats. Regardless, this day lacks many streaming options, and starters other than Ginn seem more enticing.
Alternative: Shane Smith (SP – CWS) @SEA | 6% Rostered
Friday, August 8th
Luis Severino (SP – ATH) @BAL | 14% Rostered
Luis Severino has not had an excellent season, but he has shown flashes of his former excellence. The 31-year-old is amid a three-game stretch against the Mariners, Astros and Guardians, where he allowed just five runs across 17 innings and struck out 17.
Ride Severino’s momentum into his start against Baltimore, a team that traded away many key offensive players at the deadline.
Alternative: Edward Cabrera (SP – MIA) @ATL | 26% Rostered
Saturday, August 9th
Eduardo Rodriguez (SP – ARI) vs. COL | 4% Rostered
Eduardo Rodriguez is having a frustrating season. This year, he has a horrific 5.63 ERA and an ugly 1.65 WHIP. The veteran seems to remind us of the pitcher he can be by tossing a good performance, then following it up with one or two subpar starts.
For example, Rodriguez shut out Houston across 6.1 innings. How did he follow up that performance? By allowing Detroit to score five runs. Luckily, Rodriguez has the easiest possible competition by facing the 30-80 Rockies. Look for flashes of good against such a bad team.
Alternative: Brad Lord (SP – WSH) @SF | 1% Rostered
Sunday, August 10th
Joey Cantillo (SP – CLE) @CWS | 2% Rostered
Joey Cantillo is a flashy reliever-turned-starter. The flashiest part? His 11.3 K/9 ratio. Streaming Cantillo against the dreadful 2025 White Sox is a good idea, especially because their team’s OPS is a measly .665.
Cantillo is not an option to go deep into games, but the innings he provides should be strikeout-rich and high quality.
Alternative: Mike Burrows (SP – PIT) vs. CIN | 2% Rostered
