Everyone loves an Ask Me Anything (AMA), especially the fantasy football community. You can put me at the top of the list of those who love fantasy football AMA. Answering questions for a specific individual fantasy player is so much fun. Not only am I helping that fantasy player improve their team, but it also challenges me to think outside the general box of who is higher in my rankings or who to start this year.
FantasyPros does an excellent job with their Discord AMAs, giving members a chance to have their questions answered by professionals. Please join the Discord channel and reach out to me anytime with any fantasy football questions.

Fantasy Football Discord AMA & Mailbag
So, without further ado, let’s dive into some of the questions and answers from my Week 1 Discord AMA.
Lineup Questions
Should I start Calvin Ridley in Week 1? Ricky Pearsall is my other option.
While I love Ridley as a WR2 pick in drafts this year, I would try to avoid starting him in Week 1 against the Denver Broncos. Patrick Surtain II is arguably the top cornerback in the NFL, while the Broncos have an elite defense. Furthermore, Cam Ward’s first NFL start comes on the road in the altitude. Meanwhile, Pearsall has had a good training camp and faces a far more fantasy-friendly matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
Can I trust starting Emeka Egbuka in Week 1?
Unless Chris Godwin miraculously plays in Week 1, fantasy players should have complete faith in starting Egbuka. The former Ohio State star had an outstanding training camp. Furthermore, he starts the season as the clear-cut No. 2 wide receiver in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offense. Fantasy players should expect this game against the Atlanta Falcons to be a shootout. DraftKings has the over/under for this matchup at 47.5 points, the second-highest in Week 1.
Start Dak Prescott, Brock Purdy, or Drake Maye as my QB1?
In four-point per passing touchdown scoring, I like Maye the most, followed by Purdy and Prescott. However, I have Purdy first, Maye second, and Prescott third in six-point per passing touchdown scoring this week. Purdy has a solid matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, while Maye has an excellent one against the Las Vegas Raiders. Ideally, fantasy players can avoid starting Prescott on Thursday night against the reigning Super Bowl champions in what could be an ugly game.
What should I do with Jalen Coker now that he’s on injured reserve?
Unfortunately, Coker will miss the first four games of the season with a quad injury. Fantasy players with an injured reserve spot should stash Coker until he’s ready to play. The Panthers showed faith in him by trading away Adam Thielen. Meanwhile, Hunter Renfrow takes over as the starting slot receiver. The veteran is an appealing starting flex option for fantasy players in deeper PPR leagues because of the Week 1 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Waiver Wire Questions
Who is your favorite D/ST to stream this week?
The Arizona Cardinals are my top streaming D/ST pick for Week 1. They face the New Orleans Saints, who have the worst quarterback situation in the NFL. While the Cardinals didn’t have a good fantasy defense in 2024, finishing as the D/ST18, they made several improvements this offseason. Arizona added Calais Campbell and Josh Sweat in free agency while using their top two picks in the NFL Draft on Walter Nolen III and Will Johnson.
Better tight end to stash in non-PPR scoring: Chig Okonkwo or Brenton Strange?
Both players are appealing stash options, especially in deeper leagues. However, Okonkwo is the better option. The Tennessee Titans have a lack of weapons in the passing game besides Calvin Ridley. Meanwhile, Strange will have to fight for targets in the Jacksonville Jaguars’ passing attack behind Brian Thomas Jr. and Travis Hunter. Furthermore, Okonkwo has flashed fantasy upside in the past but has been held back by awful quarterback production. That likely won’t be the case in 2025.
Which rookie is the better long-term stash: Dont’e Thornton Jr. or Cam Skattebo?
I wouldn’t call Skattebo a long-term stash. Tyrone Tracy Jr. will be the New York Giants’ lead running back to start the season. However, the former Arizona State star will see work, especially in the passing game. Meanwhile, Thornton will be the Las Vegas Raiders’ other starting wide receiver opposite Jakobi Meyers. I took Thornton in the final round of several drafts over the past two weeks. He could quickly turn into a solid flex option.
Who is the better beat the waiver wire pick: Tre’ Harris or Elic Ayomanor?
Unfortunately, Harris’ 2025 fantasy value took a significant hit when the Los Angeles Chargers brought back Keenan Allen. The team won’t throw enough to support three fantasy-relevant wide receivers. Therefore, Ayomanor is the better pick. He earned the No. 2 wide receiver role in training camp and could finish second on the team in targets this season behind Calvin Ridley. Don’t be surprised if Ayomanor is at the top of waiver wire articles heading into Week 2.
Trade Questions
Would you trade Rashee Rice for Xavier Worthy or Chris Olave?
There is no way on Earth that I would trade Rice for Olave. I want nothing to do with the New Orleans Saints’ passing attack this season. However, swapping Rice for Worthy would depend on the rest of your roster. If your wide receiver depth is good enough to get you through Rice’s six-game suspension, I would hold onto him. Yet, I would trade Rice for Worthy if you’re worried about your ability to be competitive early in the year.
Should I trade away DK Metcalf and Kyren Williams for CeeDee Lamb?
I would easily take that deal and land the former Oklahoma star. The only way I would pass on that deal is if it’s a deeper league and you don’t have the depth to trade away two starters for one. Lamb was a first-round pick in nearly every fantasy draft. By comparison, Williams was a third-round pick in ADP while Metcalf was a fifth or sixth-round selection. Most fantasy players would gladly trade their third and fifth-round picks for an additional first-round choice.
