Everyone loves an Ask Me Anything (AMA), especially the fantasy football community. You can put me at the top of the list of those who love fantasy football AMA. Answering questions for a specific individual fantasy player is so much fun. Not only am I helping that fantasy player improve their team, but it also challenges me to think outside the general box of who is higher in my rankings or who to start this year.
FantasyPros does an excellent job with their Discord AMAs, giving members a chance to have their questions answered by professionals. Please join the Discord channel and reach out to me anytime with any fantasy football questions.

Fantasy Football Discord AMA & Mailbag
So, without further ado, let’s dive into some of the questions and answers from my Week 4 Discord AMA.
Waiver Wire Questions
How aggressively should I target Trey Benson off the waiver wire if I had James Conner?
The short answer is very aggressive. Fantasy players have had trouble finding appealing running back options on the waiver wire. Furthermore, Benson has the chance to be a league winner. If you lost Conner and didn’t have Benson on your roster, that’s a mistake you should take with you for next year, as handcuffing your star running backs can make or break your season. I would spend up to 75% of my remaining FAAB on the second-year running back.
Should I pick up a quarterback like Carson Wentz off waivers or start Bo Nix in Week 4?
Nix hasn’t been very good to start the season, averaging 1.7 passing touchdowns and 13.5 fantasy points per game. He has scored 13.4 or fewer fantasy points twice, including in Week 3. However, the former Oregon star has an excellent chance of bouncing back this week with a matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. They have given up two passing touchdowns and 15.6 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season. While I like Wentz as a streamer, Nix is the far better starting option this week.
Which wide receivers should I add off the waiver wire this week?
If Quentin Johnston or Keenan Allen are somehow still on the waiver wire, those are the top two targets. However, Troy Franklin (49.4%), Cedric Tillman (43.9%), Christian Kirk (21.9%), and Elic Ayomanor (21.2%) are four guys rostered in under 50% of ESPN leagues who are solid options this week. Franklin and Ayomanor have the most upside of the four, while Tillman and Kirk are safer options. I wouldn’t go crazy spending FAAB to add any of them.
Is it a good idea to add backup NFL quarterbacks off waivers in superflex leagues?
Hopefully, your bench is deep enough that you can stash a backup quarterback before they take over under center. Jaxson Dart and Dillon Gabriel are the top two names that come to mind. Both could be starting before Halloween, if not sooner. Shedeur Sanders will likely get a chance to start at some points, as will Tyler Shough. However, I’m not adding Jameis Winston or Kirk Cousins off waivers, hoping the Cincinnati Bengals decide to trade for one of the veterans.
Player Outlook Questions
Thoughts on Mark Andrews after his performance on Monday night?
After totaling 2.9 PPR fantasy points over the first two weeks, Andrews had a vintage performance against the Detroit Lions. The veteran caught all six targets for a team-high 91 receiving yards and two touchdowns, scoring 27.1 fantasy points. While I would add him off the waiver wire, especially if I lack a clear-cut weekly starting tight end, I’m not trading for Andrews. Zay Flowers had only three targets on Monday night, and Isaiah Likely could make his season debut in Week 4.
Can Ollie Gordon II be flex viable without an injury to De’Von Achane?
While Gordon was the preseason darling, he had only five touches for 16 scrimmage yards and 3.6 PPR fantasy points over the first two weeks. However, Gordon had nine rushing attempts for 38 yards, a touchdown, and 9.8 fantasy points on Thursday night. Yet, I don’t see him having consistent fantasy value unless Achane misses time with an injury. At best, Gordon will be a touchdown-dependent flex option. Unfortunately, I don’t want to bet on him finding the end zone most weeks.
Is Jordan Mason someone I should hold or sell high?
This is a bit of a cop out answer, but both. Fantasy players should always look to sell high on a player when his value is at its peak. If I can turn him into Omarion Hampton or Derrick Henry, that’s a deal I would make in a heartbeat. However, I believe Mason can remain the Minnesota Vikings’ lead running back, even once Aaron Jones returns from his hamstring injury. Therefore, I would need to get a clear-cut plug-and-play running back to consider trading away Mason.
Will Malik Nabers continue to screw me over?
Nabers was awful on Sunday night against the Kansas City Chiefs, totaling two receptions on seven targets for 13 receiving yards and 3.3 PPR fantasy points. While Russell Wilson hasn’t played well, the second-year superstar averaged 12.5 targets and 24.9 fantasy points over the first two weeks. More importantly, Jaxson Dart should take over under center sooner than later. While I don’t think the rookie starts in Week 4, the New York Giants could start him in Week 5 with a friendly matchup against the New Orleans Saints.
