Early Fantasy Football Trade Advice for Week 4
Players to Buy
Tampa Bay is 3-0 despite all their injuries, in large part because of Mayfield. He had 17.7 fantasy points on Sunday despite missing three starting offensive linemen. More importantly, the veteran is making plays with his legs, averaging 38.7 rushing yards per game this year on only four attempts per outing. Thankfully, the Buccaneers expect Chris Godwin and Tristan Wirfs to make their season debuts in Week 4. Hopefully, Mike Evans’ hamstring injury isn’t significant, allowing Mayfield to have his full set of weapons next week against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Hopefully, fantasy players didn’t start Henderson in Week 3, as the rookie scored only 7.7 PPR fantasy points. However, the former Ohio State star’s breakout is coming, potentially against the Carolina Panthers next week. Rhamondre Stevenson struggled after his big performance in Week 2, totaling 4.6 fantasy points and two massive fumbles on Sunday. Meanwhile, Henderson led the Patriots in rushing attempts (11) and touches (14), more than doubling his attempts entering the game (eight). Don’t be surprised if he has over 100 scrimmage yards against Carolina next week.
Fantasy players have been frustrated with Golden. The former Texas star had only four targets and 5.1 PPR fantasy points over the first two weeks. However, he earned more work on Sunday with Jayden Reed on injured reserve. While the Packers’ offense struggled in Week 3, Golden was Green Bay’s best weapon in the passing game, leading the team’s wide receivers in receptions (four), targets (four), receiving yards (52), and fantasy points (10.1). I’m calling it now; Golden will have a breakout performance against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4.
Week 4 is when fantasy players with a winning record should explore trade low options for injured stars, with Kittle at the top of the list. The superstar is halfway through his required four-game injured reserve stint because of a hamstring injury. He was outstanding before getting hurt, totaling 12.5 PPR fantasy points on 21 snaps in Week 1. If you have a league mate about to be 0-3 or 1-2 that has Kittle stashed on their bench, see if you can acquire the superstar at a discount.
Players to Sell
Smith had an awful performance in Week 2, totaling zero touchdowns and three interceptions against the Los Angeles Chargers. The veteran had a bounce-back outing on Sunday, throwing for almost 300 yards and three touchdowns against the Washington Commanders, totaling 26.1 fantasy points. However, fantasy players should sell high on Smith while they can. Nearly a third of his fantasy production came off a blown coverage touchdown late in the blowout loss. Fantasy players in superflex leagues should try trading Smith to the league mate struggling at the quarterback position.
While I loved Mason during the pre-draft process, fantasy players must consider selling high on the veteran running back. He was unstoppable on Sunday, totaling 16 rushing attempts for 116 yards, two touchdowns, and 23.6 PPR fantasy points. However, he faced a Cincinnati Bengals defense that gave up the second-most fantasy points per game to running backs over the first two weeks (29.4). Unfortunately, Minnesota faces several talented run defenses over the next few weeks. Fantasy players should see if they can turn Mason into Ashton Jeanty or TreVeyon Henderson.
Unfortunately, the Bengals’ 2025 season might already be over. They were awful against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, totaling one touchdown in the blowout loss. Chase struggled, earning only a 22.2% target share, totaling five receptions on six targets for 50 receiving yards and 8.9 PPR fantasy points. More importantly, the superstar was a shell of himself in 2023 when Jake Browning started seven games. Chase averaged 4.8 receptions on 6.5 targets for 63.8 receiving yards and 12.2 fantasy points per game in his six contests with Browning under center.
The Vikings blew out the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. Yet, their offense was far from great for fantasy players. Hockenson scored 15.9 PPR fantasy points, totaling five receptions on six targets for 49 receiving yards and a touchdown. However, his touchdown came late in the blowout. More importantly, he saw only one more target than Jalen Nailor. Fantasy players need to sell high while they can. The Bengals have an awful defense. Furthermore, J.J. McCarthy will be back under center soon, and Jordan Addison’s suspension is over on Monday.
