Fantasy Football Trade Advice: Omarion Hampton, Jared Goff, James Conner

The fantasy football season is only two weeks old, and already managers everywhere are acting like Wall Street traders on too much caffeine. That guy you drafted in Round 3? He’s either your new franchise cornerstone or the reason you’ve been Googling “stress management techniques” at 2 a.m. Welcome to Week 3, where patience wears thin, panic buttons get tapped, and savvy managers can swoop in to steal value.

Our Featured Pros have once again sorted through the noise to highlight the best Buy Low and Sell High candidates. Whether you’re looking to turn frustration into profit or unload a ticking time bomb before it goes off, this list is your Week 3 fantasy market cheat sheet.

Week 3 Buy Low

Who is your favorite buy-low trade candidate heading into Week 3 and why? Also, who are you willing to give up for him?

Omarion Hampton (RB – LAC)

“These rookie running backs are terrible.” OK, friend. I’ll happily take Ashton Jeanty or Omarion Hampton off your hands. There seems to be an especially high degree of agita with Hampton. He’ll be fine; he’s an outstanding running back prospect. It’s been two games, the first of which was against the Chiefs, whose defense is always tough against the run under defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. If the Hampton investor in your league is freaking out, see if they’ll give him to you for a receiver such as Zay Flowers or Davante Adams.”

Week 3 Sell High

Who is your favorite sell-high candidate after Week 2 and why? Also, who would you try to get in return?

James Conner (RB – ARI)

James Conner is my sell-high candidate of the week. While his fantasy points look good at a glance, they’re inflated by a touchdown in each game and not supported by an efficient ground game, as per his 3.3 yards per carry average. He’s starting to show his age, and the emerging presence of rookie Trey Benson is eating into his “bell-cow” status with the Cardinals. Now is the perfect window to trade Conner to a manager, still under the assumption that he’s a workhorse back. Given Conner’s misleading early-season production, I’d be looking to trade him away for a running back with a more secure role but who is currently underperforming, such as Tony Pollard. You would be acquiring a player who, despite a slow start, will provide a much safer floor and a higher ceiling moving forward.”
Luke Renton (The Franchise Tag UK)

“If you’re deep enough at running back and can afford to deal away James Conner, this might be a good time to move him. The 30-year-old Conner is ceding some work to second-year back Trey Benson, who played only five fewer snaps than Conner in Week 2 and ran more routes. I’d happily trade Conner for Mike Evans, and I’d probably take Tetairoa McMillan for him.”

Jared Goff (QB – DET)

“After blowing out the Bears at home, Jared Goff reminded everyone that the Lions will be just fine. Or will they? The home/road splits associated with Goff are well documented, and three of his next four games are on the road. Perhaps most importantly, all of these contests are outdoors with Baltimore, Cincinnati and Kansas City on the slate. With the number of quarterback injuries coming out of Week 2, Goff could be a very interesting trade candidate. If Goff managers can target the Joe Burrow, Jayden Daniels, J.J. McCarthy and maybe Justin Fields managers and net a solid Flex-worthy player such as Calvin Ridley or Chris Olave, that would be very solid business.”
