Fantasy Football Burning Questions

What to make of the Jets?

The Jets are the only team in the NFL without a win, entering Week 8 with a record of 0-7, ready to make a change under center. After a career-worst performance in London in Week 6, Justin Fields was off to another horrid start in Week 7 against the Panthers, completing only six passes on 12 dropbacks through the first two quarters (50% completion rate) and throwing for 46 scoreless yards while averaging fewer than four yards per attempt (3.8).

Coming out of the half, the Jets benched Fields in favor of Tyrod Taylor, who somehow looked even worse to close out the game, throwing two interceptions and zero touchdowns, finishing with a 25.9 passer rating on the day. Although head coach Aaron Glenn has declined to name a starter, Taylor looks in line to get the first crack if healthy, currently dealing with a knee injury. Without Garrett Wilson, the entire team is hard to trust for fantasy, including Breece Hall, who has been drawing interest ahead of the trade deadline.

Is it too Late for the Ravens?

The Ravens are off to their worst start ever under John Harbaugh, losing each of their last four games entering the bye, bringing their record to 1-5 on the season. They’ve been outscored 144 to 194 by their opponents through six games, currently one of seven teams with a point differential of -50 or worse (-50).

Fortunately, help is on the way with Lamar Jackson logging back-to-back limited sessions in practice. Based on the -6.5-point spread in favor of Baltimore, Jackson is likely to suit up on Sunday after missing the last two games with a hamstring injury. The entire offense gets a significant boost with Jackson under center; however, the more concerning part of the team has been their defense, allowing the third-most yards (380.8) and a league-high 32.3 points per game.

Are the Commanders Doomed?

The Commanders were blown out 40-22 by the Cowboys, but suffered an even bigger loss in Jayden Daniels, who exited early in the third quarter with a hamstring injury. Daniels has already missed two games with a non-related knee injury and is set to miss at least a week, if not more, as he recovers.

At 3-4, currently third in the NFC East, Washington is nearing must-win territory, but they will have their work cut out for them Monday night, facing a Chiefs team clicking on all cylinders, emerging as one of the top contenders in the league. Although they won’t have their starting quarterback, Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel have both returned to practice, giving Marcus Mariota some much-needed help.
