Fantasy Football Injury Updates
Quarterback
Anthony Richardson (QB – IND)
Anthony Richardson broke his orbital bone during the pre-game warmup while doing an arm band workout. Yes, that is a real sentence. No, it doesn’t impact fantasy teams as he was the backup to Daniel Jones.
Running Back
Emari Demercado (RB – ARI)
Emari Demercado left the Cardinals’ loss to the Indianapolis Colts in the second quarter with an ankle injury. Despite the injuries to James Conner and Trey Benson, Demercado drew just 13.9% of the running back carries over the last two weeks.
Blake Corum (RB – LAR)
Blake Corum left the Rams’ Week 6 win over the Baltimore Ravens with an ankle injury that happened in the second quarter. Only he and Kyren Williams have recorded carries this season for the Rams, and Corum was only getting 5.3% of them.
It was unlikely Corum was on your roster before this injury anyway, unless you were a Williams owner.
Dylan Laube (RB – LV)
Dylan Laube suffered a hamstring injury in the Raiders’ win over the Tennessee Titans. From a fantasy perspective, this is a complete non-factor. He has just five touches this season.
Wide Receiver
Marvin Harrison Jr. (WR – ARI)
Marvin Harrison Jr. suffered a concussion in the Cardinals’ loss to the Colts. This season, he’s second on the team in target share at 17.3%, trailing tight end Trey McBride. Given that this is a concussion, I expect Harrison to miss at least one game.
Without Harrison on the field, McBride is peppered with even more targets and has a team target share of 32.4%. The next closest wide receiver is Zay Jones at 16.2%.
Dontayvion Wicks (WR – GB)
Dontayvion Wicks suffered an ankle injury in the Packers’ win over the Cincinnati Bengals. This season, he has a 13.2% team target share, amounting to 12 catches for 129 yards and zero touchdowns.
When Wicks isn’t on the field, rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden has seen more targets, making up for Wicks’ downfield presence.
Puka Nacua (WR – LAR)
Puka Nacua was the big injury of the week, suffering an ankle injury in the Rams’ win over the Ravens. He did come back to the game, but his Week 7 status is still up in the air.
Without him in the lineup, it’ll just be more Davante Adams and Kyren Williams. That said, Jordan Whittington may be worth a speculative add.
Garrett Wilson (WR – NYJ)
Garrett Wilson played in Week 6 in London against the Denver Broncos in the Jets’ loss, but head coach Aaron Glenn said he was dealing with an injury entering the game. This is something to keep an eye on.
Emeka Egbuka (WR – TB)
The Buccaneers suffered another wide receiver injury, and this time it was to standout rookie Emeka Egbuka. He was ruled out during the team’s win over the 49ers with a hamstring injury.
Sterling Shepard is worth a waiver wire pickup if Egbuka misses time.
Calvin Ridley (WR – TEN)
In the team’s loss to the Raiders, Calvin Ridley suffered a hamstring injury. He leads the team with a 19% target share.
Without Ridley in the lineup, rookie Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike see more action, but this is an offense I’d outright avoid. It’s pathetic.
Tight End
Mike Gesicki (TE – CIN)
Mike Gesicki suffered a pectoral injury in the team’s loss to the Packers. He’s a non-factor in fantasy football.
David Njoku (TE – CLE)
David Njoku suffered a knee injury in the team’s loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. This will provide a boost to rookie Harold Fannin Jr. if Njoku misses time.
